And this controlled image of theirs goes far beyond mere aesthetics. They present themself as composed, intelligent, and above “mere Cookies,” often speaking with an almost rehearsed politeness that hides their true feelings beneath their many layers.

They also seem to rarely allow themself to appear vulnerable, and when moments of desperation or instability do surface, they are usually hidden behind laughter or mockery. Even their signature “hehehe” often feels less like genuine amusement and more like a mask meant to maintain control over a conversation or interaction. Speaking of their “hehehe”, it means a great deal of things, it mostly depends on the context for how it is used. For example, when praised, and they say their little “hehehe..”, it usually points to them being somewhat(?) flattered, especially if a fellow Dragon is praising them. However, this isn’t always the case, as they seem to use it as a defense, akin to a cobra’s reaction to getting provoked. And whenever this line IS dropped, it’s as though you can feel its absence. I have counted...over 24 times they’ve added their “hehehe” line, so I can assure you that it’s used in MULTIPLE different contexts.

AND, and Snake Fruit’s speech patterns themselves are also REALLY telling. They frequently refer to Cookies as “mere” or “puny,” constantly distancing themself from the very category they technically belong to (biology-wise/species-wise, if that’s what it’s categorized as). And considering how long they spent serving Longan Dragon, it becomes difficult to ignore how much of this language resembles Longan’s own worldview.

Speaking of the Longan Dragon, I’ve added examples of how Snake Fruit’s quotes correlate with the Ivory Dragon’s own, so please enjoy that before I proceed:

Snake Fruit: “How could a mere Cookie grassp the greater mind of a dragon?“ Longan Dragon: “How could you ever see eye-to-eye with me?“ Snake Fruit: “Sss... Are you, a mere Cookie, looking down upon me?“ Longan Dragon: “You should be grateful you can look up to me.“ Snake Fruit: “Ssoon my planss will come to fruition...“ Longan Dragon: “Tiny specks of grain could not begin to comprehend my plans.“

It’s clear to see that Snake Fruit (whether they realize it or not) has been directly influenced by Longan Dragon, or even the Violet Dragon, as one of their lines from the Adventure #6 story says “Sso loud for an inssignificant lump of flour…” and in one of the Lychee Dragon’s Magic Candy Puzzle cutscenes, they say “Ugh, I’ll bury them with the pitiful dough balls the next time I get a chance!” and while they don’t SEEM to correlate at first, just think about it. Most of the time, Cookies are referred to as just that, “Cookies”. It’s not often one points out the actual ingredients of a Cookie purely to insult them. So yes, I do have a distinct feeling that perhaps Snake Fruit had also copied the language spoken by the other Dragons in regards to how they view Cookies. For Longan Dragon, it’s simply by referring to them as “meek” and “mere” and “puny”, while ALSO praising and making it seem like Dragonhood is simply superior. For Lychee Dragon, it’s referring to the ingredients (dough, flour, etc.) that make up one of those “insignificant” Cookies, perhaps saying that they’re “lesser” by referring to them as such. Lotus Dragon also once mentioned “insignificant” Cookies, and both Pitaya Dragon and Ananas Dragon used the term “weak” on some occasions (perhaps several).

Now, how does all this come together to form the individual known as Snake Fruit? Well, think about it. Snake Fruit has often talked about disliking the idea of getting pity from others (specifically Cookies). In the “Vote! Which Cookie is the Best Liar?” event, although it might not be considered canon, Snake Fruit had mentioned disliking the idea of Cookies showing them pity when they said, “…The nerve of having me return to my chamberss by mysself… And Cookiess showing me pity…!” this is also not the only example of them showing their disdain about being pitied, but ALSO receiving help from others, as shown in the “Dragon Immortalis” story, where they say “Have you forgotten that I am almosst half a dragon? I am capable of taking care of mysself! Do not concern yourselvesss with me!” as well as “I find it amusing that Cookiess such as yourselvess are concerned about one like me.” And in that cutscene from “Dragon Immortalis”, they saw the help given to them as a debt to be repaid. And they did just that, in a surprising display of selflessness, squandering their chance to ascend in order to quickly save the very same soldier that saved them earlier. After doing so, they said “Hehehe... Did I not ssay I shall repay this debt one day...? Yet even I did not expect to repay it thiss ssoon. Nor did I expect to ssquander my chance to ascend to dragonhood... But nonetheless, I can return to Lotuss Palace without a weight upon my shoulderss”.

And the question remains: Why do they hate pity so much? Well, it all points back to one thing: Dragons. But also worth/legitimacy. The issue with Snake Fruit is that they don’t really HATE getting help, but the idea of being helped by these “mere Cookies” is enough to make them really irritated with the idea that they’re considered weak. Help = just another form of pity. Ok 3 things but you get it, right? Everything I’ve shown, everything I’ve mentioned, it’s basically Snake Fruit telling us “I want to be legitimate. I want to be a Dragon. I want to be worth something more than others think I am.” But you ALSO might be wondering “If this is what they’re telling us, then why do they humble themself by saying they’re just a ‘mere servant’ and whatnot? What’s the point if they’re contradicting themself?” And I’ve wondered that as well. And I do think that some of what they’re saying is manipulation, and them saying “Look at how weak I am, there’s no way you’ll expect me to be more.” as a tactic to make others trust them more easily, to make others think “Wow, they’re so humble! And they aren’t prideful or haughty,”. But it could very well be Snake Fruit’s internalization of what the Dragons say about them. “Such a useless snake”, from Lotus Dragon. “Foolish serpent with a petty scheme”, by Longan Dragon. The list goes on. Also, I do think that Snake Fruit shut up about being helped by Cookies in that one Dragon Immortalis scene, since they went from saying “?!?! Inssolent Cookie! You dare grab onto me when I sspecifically told you to ssave yourselves?!” to “I find it amusing that Cookiess such as yourselvess are concerned about one like me.” and the reason I mention it now of all times is because in between these two lines, the Cookies say that it wasn’t because Snake Fruit was weak, and that’s why they helped. They helped Snake Fruit because “Half-dragon or not, you're one of us now!”. They NEED Snake Fruit and their tactician expertise. They need them to help lead the army alongside the others. After all… “How's an army supposed to fight without a tactician?!“. Snake Fruit must’ve realized in that moment that perhaps…it wasn’t because they were weak, or the Cookies saw it as some sort of charity case.
