Some reasons that Timeless needs to be renewed (and become the American Classic it deserves to be):

1. It may be written by men, but it potrays strong female leads in the best way possible- as a female, I approve.

2. The way they deal with issues in general (race, lgbt, relationships) isn’t dogmatic. They don’t tell, they show.

3. I want my daughters to grow up in a world where they can play pretend and be a time traveling female historian who becomes a bad ass warrior, or a MIT graduate who has visions of the future (in the past). Or a time bandit that becomes a good guy.

4. I want to build my kids a life size model of the Life boat (when they are old enough).

5. It’s nice to see a strong woman who becomes a hero, and not just a companion that is switched out over and over. I love Dr who, but we as women deserve to have Lucy Preston and Jiya as our heroines.

This show explores the past in a way that is more true to life than what is heard in most classrooms, give or take a few things, and is also fun to watch.  The writing on this show is INCREDIBLE.

You also have:

   women in power

   women of color

   women of color, in power, that are gay (I LOVE YOU AGENT CHRISTOPHER)

 Malcolm Barrett as Rufus Carlin, a black man, willing to travel through history while openly acknowledging that there was ‘nowhere in history’ that is safe for him

Jiya - a woman of color who is smart, educated, and learning to pilot the machine that made the series go. ALSO? A strong love interest for a main character.

Lucy - the woman leading the team (and ships Rufus/Jiya like it’s her job)

Connor - a black man who created the Lifeboat (and the mother ship) who is instrumental in making things work

Wyatt - who’s, you know, not ugly 

Flynn - my adorably crazy assassin.♥

STORYLINES that encourage viewers to delve deeper into the history of this country. In this season alone:

strong women in history: 

Marie-Curie (two Nobel prizes)!

Harriet Tubman (led hundreds of slaves to freedom)!

Alice Paul (led the campaign for the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution)!

Hedy Lamarr (actress and inventor responsible for patenting the design for an early form of frequency hopping)!

strong POC in history:

Wendell Scott (first African-American race car driver to win a NASCAR race)! 

Robert Johnson (pioneer of the Delta blues which led to the birth of rock and roll)!

strong moments in history:

 the Salem Witch Trials

the suffragist movement

the Underground Railroad

The storylines that come from new shows will have to be rebuilt; right now there is a story, a myth-arc that exists, and a compelling reason for fans to tell other (potential) fans why THIS SHOW needs to be watched. Busy and non-contemporary lives mean that people DVR or stream when it’s convenient and those ‘numbers’ aren’t always available for networks to focus on when it comes to revenue - at least at first.

Financially speaking, why would you cancel a TV show that has a cast, a crew, a set-up, and  a fanbase to start over from scratch, hoping that whatever you pick will do as well? This isn’t the first time that NBC has even done this - any Revolution fans wanna stand up and be counted? Thanks.

Keep this show going, if only for the writing, the acting, the stories that need to be told, and the representation that it gives.
