“i’m highly poetic, it’s a natural born talent…” he lifts his chin proudly, slowly tilting his head to meet her gaze and flashing another smile. “traveling, huh? you also going to empty my pockets? where would we go traveling?”

“I could see that.. any person would be lucky to have you as theirs.” she honestly says while returning the smile. “hey, i could totally pay for flights and stuff! hmm, where’s a place that you’ve always wanted to visit?”

“alright, alright, you make a good point. you are the light of my life, truly,” stefan playfully rolled his eyes and let his smile grow a bit wider from her comment. “the same, actually. we should probably take advantage of the fact that we live in the same city and plan a trip back together. that way the flight won’t be so terribly boring, you know?”

“now, that’s what I like to hear, you know how to woo a women with your words.” ariella states, a giggle escaping her lips as she glances over towards him. “yeah, i agree! maybe we could meet up for the summer and go traveling together as well?”

“this year has been absolute shit for me in literally all aspects of life,” stefan chuckled as he rolled onto his front in the soft patch of grass, eyeing the person beside him. “this is a good way to end this portion of it — here, i mean,” a sigh passed through his lips, shifting his gaze to their surroundings instead. “so, where will you be heading once this semester is all over?”

“oh, c’mon.. don’t lie now, i’m part of the reason why you love this world though, so it couldn’t be completely shit.” ariella jokes, while nudging his shoulder a bit trying to lighten up his mood as she grins. “honestly, i’m not sure.. probably head back to new york and spend some time with my family, how about you?”

Essie wasn’t sure at first if the other was pulling her string or being straight up honest from her reply but she relaxed when she saw her laugh, feeling less anxious. “Oh, good, I thought you were going to make me anxiously explain myself and make me feel like a total fool.” She asked with a chuckle.

“C’mon! I wanna go on an adventure, please,” she pouted as she looked at the other. “I have poor direction to go alone.”

      “so, what did you think? be honest,” stefan asked through a deep breath, letting his eyes linger on the floor a moment longer before he looked to the other. it was his final project for class — a short film — and with several weeks missed from being hospitalized, he had lost a ton of crucial time for filming and editing. “it’s not due for another week but i have to make sure it’s perfect.”

ariella watched the video, finding that it was one of his best works he had ever done. glancing up at him, she sends him a soft smile. “dude, it’s legit perfect.. i don’t know why you’re stressing so much, this stuff comes to you so naturally.” she complimented as she pauses the video just as it was about to end. 

stefan had originally planned on skipping his classes for that day. he hadn’t really been on campus since the attack, a fear of walking past that same spot again as he had no other way of getting there. however, his grades were already bad enough and so he forced himself out the door that morning. his eyes were focused on the corner where it had happened, feeling as though time had slowed while he moved past it. but as he kept his eyes locked to it, he found it had become a lot easier to cope with and the thought of that brought a small smile to his lips. just before he could turn his eyes from the patch of grass where he once lay those few weeks past, his shoulder slammed into the lamp post and his body swayed to the side with a huff. “dammit,” stefan muttered as he moved back onto the path and eyes shifting to the person who had witnessed the collision, cheeks immediately turning red. “that was… totally on purpose?”

ariella couldn’t recall the last time she saw stefan on campus. she visited him at the hospital after finding out what had happened to him, but after he acted so coldly towards her, she assumed he didn’t want her to be here, so she stopped visiting. everyone has just returned back from vacation and she was walking on campus back to her dorm room when she saw stefan who hasn’t seem to be paying attention to where he was walking and slammed into the lamp post, she tried her best not to laugh as she rises an eyebrow at him. “oh... was it now? mhm.. i’m sure it was.” she teases.
