Heard some important information on Twitter today, and thought Iâd post it here for anyone who may not have heard it. This is actually a thing, devised by human rights organisation called Karma Nirvana.

Nakeya Brownâs Hair Stories
I like to think of my work as inclusive to all Black hair styles/types â kinky, straight, synthetic, human, weaves, wigs, and tracks, because we as collective wear all. Itâs in our beauty shops, hair salons, and bathroom cabinets. Itâs a part of our history. Itâs a part of contemporary culture. Itâs a part of our conversations. Itâs a part of our daily lives.Â
Iâve been told many times âyour hair is your faceâ, so itâs something that we must tend to, and care for. Itâs something that we must treat with sensitivity when describing, but should not allow it to incite insecurities. In my eyes, itâs the single most visible and powerful feature on the black female form and I enjoy creating work about it because it is so dynamic. I make photos that display the illusory beliefs of beauty in a visually stimulating way. I want them to be a catalyst for discussion about us and our experiences. â @NakeyaBrown

CROWN by Gerrel Saunders
Natural hair artwork is everywhere, but very rarely are depictions of locs present in these creations. Trinidad-based artist Gerral Saunders of GakDesigns remedies this with his empowering new series CROWN.Â
