The following piece was inspired by Swan lake and Elain and Azriel's forbidden romance 💜 Elain being trapped by Koschei in his lake and only getting to meet Azriel in secret, just for a taste in the dead of the night, where only the Mother might witness them!

You know what’s funny? That many Gwynriel’s predictions and headcanons for their ship are actually moments we already have in the books with Azriel and Elain.

Examples:

“I need to have a scene where Gwyn takes Azriel’s hands and says his scars are beautiful and those hands saved her.”

Oh, like the one in ACOWAR? Where Elain does exactly that?

“I need Gwyn’s rescue scene to be told in more details in the next book, with Azriel saving her and carrying her.”

Oh, like the one in ACOWAR? Where Elain is rescued exactly like that?

“I need Gwyn to make Azriel laugh and give joy to his life!”

Oh, like the one in ACOFAS? Where Elain does exactly that?

“I need Gwyn to be in danger and Azriel to lose his cool and go all savage saving her.”

Oh, like the one in ACOWAR? The “I will get her back” Az said before rescuing Elain?

Funny.

You want it? We got it. We are literally the OC. The same you claim doesn’t exist.

I don't like sharing this scene because it's horrific and makes me cry, but for those who care about what the books actually say:

It boggles my mind that people are comparing Azriel putting his cloak over a woman who was assaulted while doing his job, then immediately leaving (supposedly his mate? We have never seen a male just leave their mate in a moment of distress like that, without even blinking or hesitating, even before any sort of bond snaps) to go recover the cauldron pieces to his rescue of Elain, which reads like this:

He is bleeding out. Cradling her to his chest. He can't let go of her. He doesn't let her go, Rhys takes her from him because he can hardly stand. And he is only focused on getting her free of her chains.

And she kisses him on the cheek, clear eyed.

I don't want to say much more about the Gwyn scene because it's distressing to me. I respect that it isn't to others and we all have different tolerance levels. I really struggle with on page or on screen SA as a whole. But even without his POV, we could have seen his hesitation to leave her, or even him demanding that Mor heal her before he left, the way Azriel demanded Helion take care of Elain before he even considered his own healing. Just... something.

I know some people consider his slaughtering everyone to be his show of that, but I think he would have done that for any female and any character would have done the same walking in on that horrific scene. Mor would have done the same had she gotten there first. I realise that's something we may simply never agree on. However, even without his POV we still got a more detailed description of his moment with Elain. How he was holding her. How he was putting her safety and well being above his own. How he spoke to demand she be tended to before himself. How he let her touch him and kiss his cheek.

They both tell Feyre they can't stand being near each other.

People say that Elain is leading Lucien on or whatever- that just isn't true.

She is too nice to send him away, sure. But Lucien plainly tells Feyre he knows she can't stand him, and he can't stand being around her or the night court. This is after we learn he's made a Band of Exiles with Jurian and Vassa; to which Feyre even states Vassa and Lucien are the only exiles(and calling him an acolyte, he's blushing while talking about Vassa- shes not stupid, she knows whats up).

Feyre even says that Lucien has shown no interest in bridging their gap.

Lucien is moving on, to the point by ACOSF that Mor knows he is loyal to Vassa.

But, for Feyre's sake, Elain and Lucien are not out right acknowledging they aren't interested at all in their bond. I can't see how it isn't obvious to ANY reader when its freaking written explicitly in ACOFAS that they make each other uncomfortable.

It's gross that people think Elain needs to do more for Lucien or grovel for him when SJM has already explained neither one of them are interested in each other.

As I knew Feysand was endgame when Feyre described Rhys as the most beautiful man she has ever seen.

But they don't pay attention to it and several other things because women's words and acts means NOTHING to them.

They prefer picking other woman because she is "QUIRKY", "STRONG" and "NOT LIKE OTHER GIRLS" and the other one is "BORING", "SHELTERED" and "BELONGS TO ANOTHER MAN".

They prefer shipping two characters who didn't show romantic interest on each other because they TWISTED the man's personality to fit "enemies to lovers" saturated as fuck trope when it was already used in the last book.

They prefer to think SHE DOESN'T DESERVES HIM because SHE WILL MAKE HIM SUFFER for not being "BIOLOGICALLY AVAIBLE" and other woman WILL MAKE HIM HAPPY because SHE IS NOT TIED AGAINST HER WILL TO OTHER MAN.

They prefer downgrading the other one and pushing her out of HER FAMILY, HER HOME,

saying HER BODY IS NOT SUITABLE FOR HIS BABIES.

saying SHE IS TOO WEAK AND BORING because SHE DOESN'T FIGHT LIKE FEMALE WARRIORS.

saying BLACK COLOR DOESN'T SUITS HER because a man said that.

saying SHE NEEDS SUNLIGHT AND A PLACE WHERE IT HAS AN ETERNAL SPRING GARDEN only because HER HOBBY IS HER ENTIRE PERSONALITY, INCLUDING HER FUTURE.

saying SHE IS ONLY AN OBJECT OF LUST because the man showed that he felt desire for her but HE IS DIFFERENT WITH THIS OTHER WOMAN.

saying SHE WILL BECOME A VILLAINESS when she sees the other girl using a necklace that was meant to be her gift.

saying SHE WILL BETRAY THE INNER CIRCLE.

even fucking supporting a BIOLOGICAL ARRANGED MARRIAGE with a man who makes her SHRINK...

Because it will not work if she stills there.

I needed to get this out. I'm DISGUSTED! Of all series i've watched and read in my life, I never saw something like this!

Stop reading fandom theories cause they truly do not matter. For every one theory there is another one hoping for the complete opposite. You just need to read the books.

She has clear as day shown us Elain’s feelings towards Lucien and Elriel’s feelings towards each other. Gwynriel never existed in the story in the first place so its moot point.

Remember Brycriel?? That was never hinted at, never teased and there were people dying for it LOL never happened and the story continued the way it always was, fandom theory be damned.

“Azriel offered her a small smile that Elain quickly looked away from.”

every time I read his face was “utterly neutral” and “something charged went between them.”
