To prevent an HIV infection is very important to check regularly your status and start the treatment in case of being positive. Most of new transmissions come from people who don’t know they are infected. THE TREATMENT AVOIDS NEW INFECTIONS!!!

UNDETECTABLE HIV+ PEOPLE ARE NOT CONTAGIOUS!! Does this mean condoms are useless for HIV+ people? not exactly… Condoms still help to prevent other diseases in casual sexdates, but at least, couples/sexmates with an HIV+ member can have “unprotected” sex without any risk of transmission. It’s a huge step to defeat the HIV stigma.

This is a “copy and paste” from the Swiss Federal Commission for HIV / AIDS:

“An HIV-infected person on antiretroviral therapy with completely suppressed viraemia (“effective ART”) is not sexually infectious, i.e. cannot transmit HIV through sexual contact”. The Commission “realises that medical and biologic data available today do not permit proof that HIV-infection during effective antiretroviral therapy is impossible, because the non-occurrence of an improbable event cannot be proven".
