Thatchers – Stan’s Leaf Twister Traditional Big Apple Cider. 5.0% 330ml can. “A softly-rounded and full-bodied sparkling cider crafted with bittersweet apples including Somerset Redstreak and Dabinett, bursting with apple flavour.” Inspired by Stan Thatcher, who must have been some form of Deity, along with another release entitled Barrel Roller, which is essential for me to unearth, it’s 6.0% Vol!!!!!! The initial thing that fascinated me about this was the can itself. I love the wood grain impression and the vintage typeface and composition. It’s no wonder that Barrel Roller won the Best Can Design at this years’ World Cider Awards. Now getting back on track to the cider itself; it’s purely phenomenal, so sweet and scrumptious, I find it challenging to trust it is natural, but it is, @thatchersciderunquestionably know what to do with their apples, and throughout their whole range, not a solitary item is fouled with the use of animal products. This is one we can have faith in, and we can love. Chill out with a Thatchers cider and if you can track down this unique one, prepare yourself for a marvel.

Peroni Draught. 5.1% Fresh, revitalising and graceful. @peroniuk is one of those beers I’ve always seen but have yet to try, until tonight. An impulsive trip to The Copt Oak in Leicestershire after an extensive day of driving, enthusiastic to appraise another meal from their latest vegan offerings, I was astounded to find out that Peroni would complement this absolutely. No animal products are used in their ingredients or methods and it is entirely suitable for vegans. It’s comforting to know that a frequently obtainable draught that tastes magnificent stands a moderate chance of being there next time I desire a proper pint.

Little Valley Brewery Organic Cherry Saison. 4.5% 500ml bottle. “With bitter tartness, sweet flavours of cherry and a crisp tangy finish, Cherry Saison is a fruity beer that always hits the spot.” Released alongside @morrisons Beer Festival this month, I was overjoyed to see the unmistakeable @vegantrademark on the face of this bottle, without wavering, this went immediately into the basket beside Morrisons’ new limited edition Dracula’s Devil Garlic Bread, which is accidentally vegan by the way, win-win!! The aspect of cherry doesn’t hit you immediately, but rapidly makes its presence known, a full, flavourful, cutting tang that whilst seeming wounding to the palate, is yet delightfully scrumptious. Now I’m not a specialist on what food and drink amalgamations you must obey like the wine connoisseurs so harshly decree, but I brought this together with the aforementioned garlic bread and a phenomenally amazing pizza I made using @lindamccartneyfoods Vegetarian Shredded Hoisin Duck (also vegan) and this succeeded impeccably. I imagine this ale will match up with whatever you desire, so go and get aboard the Beer Festival and pick up a couple of bottles of @littlevalleybrewery Cherry Saison and enjoy.
