Wait For The Moment Jeff Starts Jumping For The Camera by SloggerVlogger *Playful Jeff tries to get Cyndi to play while she's tucked in her mum's arms, before he treats me to a silent hooting display at Chester Zoo.* Back at Chester Zoo and things are getting quite lively in the chimpanzee habitat. Youngster Jeff is in a particularly playful mood and he has been doing his best to get baby Cyndi to play, even though she is tucked away safely in her mum's arms. When his attempts at finding a playmate didn't quite work out, he decided to come right up to me and my camera instead. He started jumping up and down and moving his mouth like he was hooting, though there wasn't a single sound coming out! It was quite the silent performance. Chrissie was showing off a different kind of skill. She managed to get hold of a tiny stick to clean her baby's ear, very carefully inserting it just like a cotton bud. I don't think that one came with a warning label about not putting it too far into the ear but mum seems to know what she can and can't do! While she was still attending to her daughter, Jeff moved on from the camera to take his energy out on a nearby bush. Special Moments With Gorilla Bobóto And Grown Up Pepe by SloggerVlogger 🌿🦍*Gorilla Bobóto meets the Krefeld mangabeys, while young Pepe shows off his silverback maturity alongside leader Kidogo.* Gorilla Bobóto from Zoo Krefeld sat down right next to the Mangabey monkey. At the moment they are still separated with a fence. Soon the mangabeys and the gorillas will be in together, but right now it is still a soft introduction to see how things go. I filmed Santu doing this last week, and now it is Bobóto's turn. He sits in front of the Mangabey and eats his veg. I honestly thought he might share. That would have been something! At one point he even sticks his tongue through the fence. These are the exact same type of Mangabeys that you might know from Zoo Arcachon Bassin, like Litchee. Next up is Pepe. Just look at him, he has his silver already and he is still with the troop! It is quite surprising that his dad is still okay with him being there, but he seems to be. He just lets him get on with it. Then I spotted the boss himself, Silverback and leader of the troop Kidogo. He always seems to be very chilled when I visit. I still remember on my previous visit. Oya was chasing after him and screaming at him, and he chose to run away rather than to confront her! Back inside, this is the old inside area which is very small, but even though they now have their brand new place, they still prefer this older smaller space. Silverback Oumbi is in one of his grumpy moods again, charging at the females, Ozala and Asante, while Shufai is busy with the snack balls. I filmed throughout the day at Twycross Zoo, and later on, Dad's mood got transferred to the other members of the troop as Ozala charges at her son, then Shufai charges too and thumbs the ground with his hand. Amazing Gorilla Update From Zoo Krefeld and Santu's New Species Encounter by SloggerVlogger *Bobóto performs an amazing upright walk and bipedal sprint at Zoo Krefeld, whilst little Santu gets a surprise introduction to a brand new species.* Welcome back to Amazing Gorilla Footage Update From Zoo Krefeld and Santu New Species Encounter! I am back with the gorillas from Germany at the Krefeld Zoo and Santu who is so popular with everyone. In this video, Bobóto does an upright walk and then a bipedal sprint. The area you see is part of the new great ape house and outside. Sometimes you will see black dots on the glass, which are great as they help the birds judge the glass. Sometimes when things are happening too fast and I have to pan, you will see them on the footage. I much prefer their old space as it is a lot bigger and no glass, well there is but it is about a metre high only so you can easily film over it. How are they staying in there if it is only a metre high you might ask? Well on their side there is a big dip and a wall with probably electric fencing so they would be unable to climb that! People always seem to say, oh why haven't they cut the grass? This is much better for them with lots more to explore. All the plants are gorilla safe and they love to eat and experience different tastes. Also the enrichment that keepers put out gives lots more opportunity to hide and make enrichment better. I think it is great when it is this wild and much prefer this to their new outdoors. I will bet many of you love seeing Santu again. He is such a cute little bundle. He is still quite small, but he has definitely grown since my last visit. He is five years old in July 2026. Watch until the end because Santu is engaging with the Mangabey monkey! They are not far off introducing two mangabeys to the entire troop and this is a soft introduction where they can interact through the fence! Next week see Pepe, he is 11 and normally would be moved by now, but he is still with the troop and he looks like a young Silverback now. Gorilla Group Tensions Shufai Jumps Toward Asante by SloggerVlogger In this observation of the Twycross Zoo gorilla troop, Asante tries to hide away from Oumbi as the social dynamics shift. Watch closely as Ozala keeps a very close eye on Asante’s every move. It almost feels like they are ganging up on her at one point. The tension rises when Shufai approaches and suddenly jumps towards Asante. Later, while Shufai is close by, Asante looking like she is about to be sick. She walks off, and her remedy is to find something to eat. You will also see Oumbi enjoying a quiet moment with his stick, while later Asante watches the group from a safe distance above. ℹ️ This video was filmed in Feb 2026.
