ahhh thank you. i basically bring up the photo and my canvas right next to each other in my program, then i'll usually fill in the background, and proceed to largely block in big shapes and colors to get the composition down. then it's pretty much just a matter of time slowly adding more details to make things recognizable. the main thing i've been focusing on lately is picking colors with my eyes. using the color pickers is easy but it doesn't do much in terms of training your eye for color so all the photo studies i've been doing has been my eyeballing and occasionally checking my colors with the eyedrop tool to try and learn
