Prompt: โI'm stuck! White flag! I surrender!โ
Northern Italy was cold, snowy and windy. Despite your best efforts, your boyfriend was determined to get everyone out of bed and on the slopes today.
You had regretted joining them on their pre season trip. You wanted to curl up by the fire, read your book and not be disturbed but your boyfriend, Charles, and his two sidekicks, Joris and Andrea, were all trouble wrapped up in snow pants.
They had decided that today would be an off day from training, that you'd all just relax. You thought you'd finally get a day in with your boyfriend instead of being dragged to multiple training sessions.
Their idea of relaxing was apparently skiing in the freezing temperature.
You trekked through the snow, Charles carrying your skis as you followed between him and Joris. You had done a few runs down the slope before giving up, sitting in the snow at the base off to the side. Joris joined you shortly after, letting Charles and Andrea make their way back up the slopes.
Watching as some other people skied down, you hear Joris yell. "Hey!" before something cold hits your arm.
"I know you did not just throw a snowball at me." You look at the man, a sheepish smile on his face. You and Joris had quickly become friends after you began dating Charles; the two of you acting like siblings.
Joris runs away as you form the snow into a ball, tossing it in his direction. The two of you chase each other, tossing snow in the direction of the other.
"Stop running, you started this!" You shouted, the snowball in your hand.
Tossing it at Joris, you missed his head but hit your boyfriend right in the face as he got to the bottom of the slope. Charles stops there, stunned and now cold. His glove on the floor as he brushes off the snow, rubbing some warmth into his face again.
You can't help but laugh, hand over your mouth as you giggle. "I'm so sorry, babe. I meant to hit Joris." You glance at his friend who was a few feet away in a fit of laughter.
"Yeah, no problem, love." Charles says, smiling at you. You smile back, turning around to get some more snow before planning to get Joris. Before you can do that, you feel something hit your back.
Charles smiles at you, snow on his glove. "Oops. I was aiming for Andrea." He tells you, the older man now coming down the slope; his lie uncovered.
"Oh, it's on!" You shout at him, throwing the snowball intended for Joris at Charles. It takes a few seconds for you to get some more snow in hand, meanwhile Andrea is throwing snowballs at Joris and indirectly forming teams; you and Joris vs Charles and Andrea.
The 4 of you are like children, fighting over who's gonna get who next and making a mess at the bottom of the slopes. It wasn't until Charles tripped over his own feet and fell face first into the fluffy white snow that you all stopped.
You look at Joris and Andrea, the three of you exchanging a look that said everything you needed to say without saying a word.
Before Charles could get up, you were all throwing snowballs at him. The Monegasque driver was barely able to turn over and throw his hands up.
โI'm stuck! White flag! I surrender!โ He says between giggles, the snowballs halt and Andrea goes to pull him out of the snow.
You walk over, brushing the snow off of your boyfriend's face. You smile at him, kissing his cold cheek. Charles gives you a half pout, "that was so mean."
"Pay back for hitting me with a snowball, my love." You patted his chest, walking off.

Not one moment did Charles regret getting Leo. He was the best thing to happen to the both of you. The dog kept you both on your toes and gave a lot of love, balancing a mix between chaos and affection. He didn't know what life was before Leo. He couldn't have asked for a better dog.ย
The only thing was, the dog was too damn spoiled. Sure he spoiled the dog just as much as you, buying him the best food, giving him any toy he wanted, and he had free reign around the house. But you gave Leo what he truly wanted, all your attention. From the moment you both got him, he was stuck to you like glue. He only wanted Charles if he was at the track or to take him to use the bathroom. It's like the dog knew how much of a hassle it was to clean up his mess so he left that for Charles to worry about.ย
You took Leo everywhere you went and he enjoyed every second of it. You wanted to go to the cafe? Leo would love to go on a walk. You had to travel for work? Sure Leo always wanted to see Paris and chase the birds. You needed to use the bathroom? Who else was going to keep you company? He didn't see dad rush up to follow you so he had to be that person (dog) for you.ย
In return, he was rewarded with a bunch of scratches and kisses. You couldn't help it. He was so dang cute and soft. Kissing his fur was like kissing clouds. Leo ate up those kisses every time. He stared at you each time waiting for you to press a kiss to his head. It didn't matter if you were wearing lip gloss he would happily stroll the house wearing the lip marks with pride.ย
This irritated Charles, to say the least. He wasn't jealous of the dog for getting a million kisses in one sitting while he barely managed to get one. No, he wasn't jealous that your priority was to show attention to Leo first. No, he wasn't jealous that Leo could wake you up at any hour and be met with a smile, compared to if he did it, the action would be a pillow thrown at his head.ย ย
"Why are you giving your dog a death glare?" The voice of Arthur broke Charles out of his thoughts.ย
"I'm not glaring at Leo." He grumbled.ย
"So you're glaring at your girl? That's new." There was a hint of teasing tone in Arthur's voice like he knew why his brother was being a grump. You were sat on the other side of hospitality with Leo in your arms. The dog was as hyper as ever while you laughed at his antics and gave him a kiss what seemed every minute to Charles. In reality, you gave him two kisses since you've sat down.ย
"I'm not glaring at anyone."ย
"Sure you aren't buddy." He patted his brother on the back before making his way over to you and Leo. Charles watched the interaction with a close eye. He knew his brother was up to something. Not a second later you looked over at Charles with a knowing smirk making the driver look anywhere but in your direction.ย
What he didn't see was Arthur taking Leo for a walk while you made your way to sit on the arm of the chair Charles was sitting on. It was only when he felt you beside him he decided to look at you. That same smirk was still plastered on your face making him groan.ย
"So, grumpy pants, you have me all to yourself till Arthur and Leo come back." You hummed reaching out to his hair to massage his scalp. His weakness. You were good.ย
"I am not grumpy, I don't know what my idiot of a brother told you." It was taking everything in Charles not to confess right then and there. The way you were working your hands on his scalp, he wanted to give in any second.ย
"You're not? Hmmh. I was going to kiss it better." The teasing tone in your voice didn't register with Charles. If he was truly paying attention he would know you were doing this to confess and it worked.ย
"I am grumpy. Kiss it better." He smiled up at you like a little kid waiting for his reward, or more like Leo waiting for a kiss when he accompanied you to the bathroom to keep you company.ย
"First you need to tell me why you're grumpy."ย
Was he about to confess his jealousy for the dog he wanted and brought just for some kisses? If it was the only way to be smothered in kisses so be it. "You give more kisses to Leo than you do me."ย
"Awee my baby, you're jealous!"ย
"And so what! The dog gets a million kisses a day while I'm lucky to get two." He pouted at this which caused a hearty laugh to come out of you. If only his fans could see Charles now.ย
"Have I been neglecting you?"ย
"Big time."ย
"Well, I'm sorry. Will this make it up?" You asked as you placed a kiss first on his forehead, each cheek, his nose, and neck. The feeling and attention made his cheeks heat up and no doubt he was blushing. He was waiting for the grand finale but it never came.ย
"You missed a spot." He puckered his lips up to you making another laugh emerge from your throat as you leaned down to kiss it the passionate kiss you knew he was missing. Charles couldn't help but smile into the kiss as he held to back of your head to deepen it even further.ย
"Better?" You asked after letting go to come up for air. One look at his blissed out expression you knew the answer.ย
"Very much so."ย
"Tell me next time when you're feeling jealous of your own dog. I'll kiss it better."ย

"What about them?"
Charles arrived at the bedroom door, Lili, your daughter, attached to his side. Her snow boot-cladded feet kicked excitedly as she waited impatiently. She had become increasingly intrigued with snow, in the short time that you had been at the chalet, and both Charles and her uncle Arthur were to blame for it. It made you laugh; she was a spring baby completely obsessed with the cold.
"It's cold outside," you blinked, pointing out the obvious. You looked down at your bags, still rummaging around for a clean pair of mittens. Her extra pair was missing and now you were searching for the extra pair to the extra pair. "She can't go outside without them."
Lili pulled on Charles's collar and whined. "Papa!" She twisted her head and wriggled in his arms. "Snow, now, Papa!"
He removed her hand and kissed the backs of her tiny, chubby fingers. "In a second, Little Mouse."
"My mother has already decided I'm a bad mother, Charles, I don't need to give her more ammunition to use against me," you mumbled, keeping your head down and missing the frown that pulled Charles's face down. It had been Arthur who had taken Lili outside without a scarf on, but that hadn't mattered to your mother. According to her, you should've checked Lili over before letting her and Arthur leave.
"Then why did you invite her?"
"She'd have only kicked up a storm if she had seen the photos and wondered why she wasn't invited," you sighed. At the bottom of the bag, you spied the gloves and pulled them out, triumphantly waving them in the air. "Here we are!"
Lili held out her hands for you to put the cream mittens on, giggling as you kissed her cheeks. "Perfect," you smiled, tucking her brown curls away and fixing her hat.
"You shouldn't believe everything she says," Charles said, cradling his hand into the side of your neck. His thumb lovingly stroked arches against your smooth skin. "You're a wonderful mother." He dipped and ghosted his lips against your temple. "Coming?"
"In a bit," you mumbled, wrapping your hand around his arm. You brought it up and kissed the inside of his wrist. "I better clean this mess up first."
"Papa!" Lili whined, struggling to turn herself in Charles' arms.
"Okay! Okay!" He chuckled, adjusting her on his hip. "Ready to build a snowman, Little Mouse?" Big round eyes stared back at Charles and Lili's mouth cracked into a wide smile. "Let's go then!"
Fifteen minutes later, you stepped out onto the chalet's front porch, a cup of coffee between your hands to keep you warm. Pascale and your own mother sat to the side, wrapped up in thick coats, bobble hats and woolly scarves. You gave them both a small smile and turned your attention quickly to Lili, Charles and her two uncles before your mother had a chance to comment on your lack of hat and gloves.
Arthur struggled to keep hold of a wriggling Lili, tasked with holding her as Charles and Lorenzo did their best to fit the second part of the snowman onto the base. Between the three of them, they conversed in French, shouting orders at each other, taking the job of building Lili her first snowman more serious than it needed to be.
"Down!" Lili ordered Arthur and he quickly dodged her incoming foot as she kicked impatiently.
"Okay!" Arthur caved, but it didn't take much for that to happen. The poor boy was wrapped around his niece's finger. He stood her in the snow, treading carefully behind her, his hands in hers, as she stumbled through the snow. "Happy now?"
Charles lowered onto one knee. "Come to help, Little Mouse?" Lili nodded and squealed excitedly. "Come here," he took her by the waist and held her in front of the half-built snowman, "Pat your hands like this, make sure it's round." He showed her what to do, praising her as she followed his instructions.
"Does it make you think about having another?" Pascale brought your attention away, now huddled at your side.
"Charles wants a few more," you answered, taking a sip of your coffee. You were thankful for the warmth it gave your cold hands.
She raised her eyebrows. "And you? Do you want anymore?"
"Maybe." You shrugged and took another sip. "Lili's still too young, though, I think I'd like to wait another year before I think about having another." You looked back over at Charles, his face lit up with pure happiness as he helped Lili start the final portion of the snowman. "But I would have a hundred more just to see that happiness."
"Well, you're not getting any younger," your mother chirped, making you frown into your cup. "You shouldn't wait too long. I had your brothers and you by the time I was your age."
"So you keep reminding me," you whispered under your breath.
"Why don't we get started on lunch?" Pascale asked, turning to face your mother. You were thankful, giving her a small smile over your shoulder, as Pascale took your mother inside. "I'm sure the boys will be hungry after this."
With them gone, you left the porch and made your way through the snow. Lili was the first to spot you, smiling brightly over her Uncle Lorenzo's shoulder, who was crouched low to help her add more snow to the snowballs they were making as Charles and Arthur finished making the snowman head. She waved her hand wildly in the air.
"Mama!" She swung her hand to the snowman. "Look!"
"I can see, baby," you smiled, hugging the cup tighter against your chest. "Did you build it all by yourself?"
Lili giggled and nodded, grabbing a handful of snow to show you. She splattered it against the snowball and pattered it down.
"Ready?" Charles asked Arthur, who nodded in return. "3...2...1..." Carefully, they lifted the large snowball. "Don't drop it!"
"I'm not going to drop it," Arthur groaned as they placed it on top of what was already built, completing the snowman.
"I hope one of you remembered to bring the carrot and stones to finish it off," you said, bottom lip shivering as the cold settled into your bones.
"Putain," Arthur cursed.
"Arthur!" You and Charles chastised, and Lorenzo covered Lili's ears, who was in her own world and completely unaware of Arthur's slip.
His eyes showed his apology as he looked down at the ground. "I'll go find something for the nose," he said and trudged off back to the chalet.
Charles laughed under his breath. "Here," he mumbled, lifting his hat off, his hair poking out in all directions, and slipping it onto yours. "Warmer?" You nodded and hummed as he leaned in for a kiss. "It's a good thing her French is nearly as bad as yours."
"No one's French is as bad as mine, Charles," you laughed, shaking your head. You had lived in Monaco for two years before meeting Charles and your French now was just as bad as it was back then; even with Charles's help.
"But that's why I love you-"
"You love me for my bad French?"
"And your eyes, your laugh, your weird sense of humour, and that beautiful baby girl, over there," he added, kissing you again. He pulled away and brushed a few flakes of snow off your cheek. "What were you and my mum talking about?"
"Oh, nothing," you smiled, shaking your head.
"I have a carot!" Arthur shouted from behind, stumbling through the snow as he tried to run back to you. "And I took a few of those pebbles from the bowl on the coffee table."
You sighed. "Arthur..."
"What?" He passed the pebbles and carrot to Charles, you had scooped Lili up in his free arm. "I'll put them back before we go."
"And wash them too."
"Yes, mum," he chuckled, nudging your side.
Together, Charles and Lili created the snowman's face; Charles instructed her where to put each pebble to form the eyes and the mouth, before passing the carrot to her and pointing to where it needed to go. He praised her with a big kiss on her cheek, one that made her squeal and giggle because his beard tickled.
"Family photo?" Lorenzo suggested, dusting snow off his knees. He took one glove off and pulled out his phone.
"I know how much is in there," you warned Arthir, handing him your cup.
"You accidentally drink a person's coffee one time..." He trailed off, shaking his head.
You crouched one side of the snowman, Charles on the other, with Lili perched on his knee.

Sunday mornings are sweet.
The fringe of dawn. Sky too bright to fall back asleep and too dim to get up just yet. Nothing but a peachy haze on the horizon, polite and peaceful.
Perfect.
Heโs most content on Sunday mornings. Some kind of calm that falls over him, even on race days. The weekends are tough, the prep work grueling โ but for a couple hours before the world wakes up, itโs quiet. Itโs still.
Nothing but you, him, and an afternoon drive later on.
The breeze nudges the drapes. Scoops a handful out of the way and plucks goosebumps along your skin.
You wrap Charlesโs arm tighter around your chest, burrowing deeper into his embrace. The crook of his elbow snuffs your giggle. โHow are you always so warm?โ
โIโm not,โ he mumbles into his pillow. His voice is thick like honey. โYou are just always colder.โ
โSo, heat me up.โ
Itโs all the invitation he needs.
His arms tighten as you turn, crossing against your spine. Chest to chest, skin to skin, your body melts into his. Charles tilts his head and buries into the crook of your neck, sleepy lips pressing even sleepier kisses against your pulse.
โโs better,โ he sighs, nuzzling his nose until you squirm.
โTickling,โ you yelp, โYou are tickling me!โ
His laugh soothes the scratch of his beard, a soft breath over your skin. He settles with his cheek against your collarbone, his breathing in steady time with yours. โLetโs just stay here today.โ
โIn bed?โ
โMhm.โ
You click your teeth. โRace day. Monaco is your favorite place in the world, no?โ
He shakes his head, murmuring, โNope. Here is.โ
His hair is a mop of chocolate brown, all soft and silky, thrown in messy waves during the night. Charles groans into your chest when you slip your fingers through it, your nails circling his scalp.
โCome to the garage,โ he whispers, โCome to the garage and do this to me until I have to put my helmet on.โ
You scoff. โYou and I both know I am not going anywhere near the garage. Not for this race.โ
His head rolls back onto your shoulder. โYou donโt love this one, do you?โ
Your eyes flutter closed and you shake your head. โI love Monaco. I love you. I donโt love watching you barrel through these streets at two hundred miles per hour, no.โ
He laughs. It breaks somewhere in its middle, like the day begins to break over your shoulder. He pushes up onto his elbow, rolling you back onto the mattress.
He cradles you in the crook of his arm, thumb lightly stroking your forehead. His free hand curves the shape of your cheek, then lowers to hold your jaw. He pulls gently on your bottom lip, slipping lower still to trail the dip in your shoulder, the swell of your breast.
He pauses, pressing his palm flat in the center of your chest. He taps his finger twice against your sternum.
โMon cลur,โ he whispers, watching the rise and fall of his hand with each breath you take, โEvery lap is one closer to you.โ
It steals your breath for three heartbeats, each one echoed by another light tap.
Charles leans down, lips ghosting, breath sweeping between. Your teeth knock together and you swap laughter, quietening only when he closes the space and slips his tongue across yours.
And oh, Sunday mornings are sweet.
His skin is sleep soft, kisses wet and warm. He tilts your chin up with his nose and kisses down the column of your neck, leaving a trail between your breasts all the way to your navel.
You giggle at the rush of cool air over your naked torso. โCharles,โ you warn, clutching his jaw, โIโm so cold โโ
He pulls himself back up, caping the sheets over his back to cocoon you beneath his toned body. He sweeps you up in his arms again.
โI love you,โ he presses against either corner of your lips. โI love you, and I promise to be careful, and I promise to come back in one piece, and โ and I promise to keep you warm forever, and โโ
His words are lost to the scattering of kisses he leaves over your mouth. Lost to the fits of giggles he draws from you when he wriggles his fingers beneath your ribcage. Lost to the words you repeat back to him; I love you and come back to me and keep me warm forever.
A dull humming across the mattress soon pulls you apart.
Charles groans and reaches across to the nightstand to switch his alarm off. He slumps back over you, forehead rolling against yours.
You steal another kiss from his lips. Your lashes flutter against his, blinking up into the emerald green of his eyes.
โPromise?โ you whisper, and wrap your hands around his.
He hums, slipping your intertwined fingers over your chest.
