Ellis Orion & Anakin Skywalker
Ellis and Anakin's relationship began as nothing more than two young Padawans navigating life within the Jedi Temple. Ellis had arrived years before Anakin, and unlike many of the other younglings who viewed him with suspicion or resentment because of his unusual origins, she treated him no differently than anyone else. That simple act of kindness made her one of Anakin's first true friends within the Order, second only to Obi-Wan Kenobi.
As the years passed, their friendship evolved into something much deeper. Both were only children, and together they found the sibling neither of them had ever known. The Jedi often joked that wherever one was seen, the other could not be far behind. Before long, that bond became more than emotional—it manifested within the Force itself.
The pair unknowingly forged an exceptionally rare Force Bond. Through it, they could sense one another's emotions across great distances and, with enough concentration, catch fleeting glimpses of each other's thoughts and intentions. Rather than fearing the connection, they embraced it, training tirelessly to strengthen it. On missions and during sparring sessions, they moved with near-perfect synchronization, often anticipating each other's actions without speaking a word. Opponents frequently mistook it for flawless teamwork, never realizing they were witnessing two Jedi acting through a single connection in the Force.
Despite their similarities, they excelled in very different ways.
Anakin became renowned as one of the Order's greatest lightsaber duelists, relying on instinct, aggression, and unmatched skill in combat. Ellis, while more than capable with a blade—especially after mastering Jar'Kai and fighting with two lightsabers—devoted herself to understanding the deeper mysteries of the Force. Her connection was unusually powerful, amplified by an ancient bloodline tied to Force-sensitive witches. As she grew older, that connection only strengthened, allowing her to accomplish feats few Jedi could.
Among the Order, there was endless debate over which of them was truly stronger. Every sparring match between them ended in a draw. Whether because they were perfectly matched or because neither could overcome someone they understood so completely, no Jedi could say with certainty who would emerge victorious in a genuine duel.
The Jedi Council affectionately regarded the two as some of the Order's most troublesome Knights. Anakin openly challenged authority whenever he believed the Council was wrong, while Ellis generally respected the rules—but she was not above bending them if her conscience demanded it. More than once, Anakin's impulsiveness combined with Ellis's unwavering sense of justice led them to disobey orders. On one notable mission they had been instructed only to observe unfolding events. Unable to stand by while innocent lives were threatened, they intervened together. Though reprimanded afterward, their actions prevented a catastrophe that observation alone never could have stopped.
Through Anakin, Ellis also became close friends with Padmé Amidala. She quickly recognized that Anakin's feelings for Padmé extended far beyond friendship, something she sensed through their Force Bond long before he ever admitted it aloud. Ellis warned him gently about the dangers of attachment but never judged him, nor did she consider informing the Council. If no one else had discovered the truth, she saw no reason to betray the trust of the brother she loved.
Near the end of the Clone Wars, however, something began to change.
The emotions Ellis sensed through their bond grew darker—restlessness, fear, anger, and despair. Yet Anakin started closing himself off from her, preventing the bond from revealing its full truth. He never told her about Padmé's pregnancy or the terrifying visions that convinced him she would die giving birth. Ellis respected his silence, believing he would come to her when he was ready.
Instead, she watched him drift further away.
His frustration with the Jedi Council only deepened after being appointed to the Council without receiving the rank of Master. When Ellis herself was later offered the title of Jedi Master, she surprised everyone by declining it.
She explained simply that she and Anakin had walked the same path since childhood. If one of them were to become a Master, she wanted them to reach that milestone together. Accepting it alone felt less like an honor and more like leaving her brother behind. Few understood her reasoning, but she never regretted the decision.
Ellis survived only because she had chosen to operate without a clone battalion, instead relying on a small company of trusted mercenaries who had become as close as family. Together they escaped repeated attempts by Imperial forces to eliminate her.
The Empire considered Ellis exceptionally dangerous—not simply because she was a powerful Jedi, but because of her connection to Anakin Skywalker. Intelligence reports suggested she might be one of the very few people capable of reaching whatever remained beneath Darth Vader's armor.
During her escape, Ellis recovered Temple security recordings.
She watched Anakin lead the assault on the Jedi Temple.
She watched him cut down Jedi.
She watched him slaughter the younglings.
The images shattered her.
The man she saw on those recordings was not the brother she had grown up beside. It was impossible for her to reconcile the compassionate friend she knew with the monster before her eyes. Every instinct urged her to find him immediately, but the surviving Jedi reminded her that countless lives still depended on them. Reluctantly, she abandoned the search to help rescue those who could still be saved.
Not long afterward came word of Anakin's duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar.
For the first time since entering the Jedi Order, Ellis completely broke down. She mourned Anakin as though he had truly died. Yet even in her grief, she refused to believe he was beyond saving. Following Yoda's advice, she disappeared into hiding in a place Anakin would never think to search.
There, she devoted herself to studying forgotten Force traditions and the ancient magic of her bloodline—not for power, but for hope.
She made herself a single promise.
One day, no matter how impossible it seemed, she would find a way to bring her brother home.
