Deep Hollow Lane

1090 miles of driving in one day from Iowa to NYC was interesting to say the least. 3267 miles from Oakland, CA to Greenwich Village in 4. Which means my absolutely amazing road trip has unfortunately come to an end. Hopefully another adventure finds me soon

Still grinning my ass off as I drive through Iowa over the fact that I skied yesterday. Was it great conditions? Definitely not. Did I care? Nope. St. Mary's Glacier is where its at as far as I'm concerned!

It's been a while haha. Don't care how crappy the snow might be cause I'm going skiing!! #adventureworthy

Our last campsite before I drop Claudine off in LA tomorrow. It's been such an amazing trip and we have gotten so lucky so many times. This campsite is no exception. We went to find a site and when we got back to register this site had opened up. Apparently it's the best site in the park and I believe it. Feels right to end on the Pacific ocean after almost 5000 miles of driving. We definitely took the long way round and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Hopefully one day I'll climb Half Dome. Until then I'm very happy just to be in its presence. The Yosemite valley is one of the most inspiring places I've ever been.

On the summit of Avalanche Peak in Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone was incredible. We were lucky enough to stay at my mom's old college roommates house. Ann works within the park doing things from climate change studies to GIS. I could have spent the rest of the year there I think. We saw deer, elk, bison, and even a black bear. And that was just in the first full day in the park. Tried to cover as much as possible doing everything from climbing a peak to seeing old faithful (where we met the head treasurer of NATO of all people...) Ann even took us on the town section of the Yellowstone River and we got to play in some class II and III rapids. All in all it was an absolutely amazing experience and words can't express how grateful Claudine and I are of Ann, Colleen, and their wonderful kids for their incredible hospitality. In the tetons for the night before heading to Yosemite!

Claudine admiring the view from the keyhole on Longs Peak. This is the start of the keyhole route which goes up to the summit. We stopped here about 1500ft shy of the summit and at ~13000ft will be the highpoint of our trip. It would have been awesome to have summoned a 14er but we got her at 12:53 which was too late to do it without the possibility of an afternoon thunderstorm.

Another night here at Winiger Ridge. How terrible... Such a cool spot just 45 minutes from Boulder. I forgot it was Friday though and was surprised when we got back to the tent after a day in town and there were other people here. Road trip problem maybe?

Sums up the last 300 miles or so pretty well... Big open sky and a shit ton of corn. I've got around another 100 miles or so of Iowa. And then I get to see the Nebraska version!!!

Stopped in Hazelton PA for gas. Having some of the delicious brownies James, Katie, and Ryan so kindly made. This road trip has officially started!

Site 55 ain't too shabby tonight. Hopefully the thunderstorms hold off for tomorrow so we can get our full paddle in. We shall see.
