Probably should make a pin 📍 post.
I swear a fair bit in my blog. I use anatomically correct words. So that’s the content warning over with.
I enjoy craft. I enjoy learning about craft techniques. Making things *just because* is one of the few things that are truly unique to humans.
Japanese language. Japanese fashion. Japan the country.
The region I live in is Oceania, in the South Western Pacific, Australia.
I like to write about ecological issues. Our region has been uniquely impacted by the climate crisis. Many of our Pasifika family are quickly losing their homes. Many of us in the Pacific Rim have been experiencing extreme weather events.
Our oceans are warmer, acidic and ocean currents drive the weather. Oceania region is the world’s canary in the mine.
I like to think of us as another species of animal. The one that shed their wings, furs and songs for a large brain. We are highly social, highly adaptive and we are living very unbalanced lives.
10% of humans are living lives of high cost convenience which 90% of humans are paying for. With labour, with rubbish, filthy air and water, damage to food production and war.
We can live differently. Our ancestors survived a Great Ice Age. Our current lifestyle is very recent. Like it is only half a century old. It is not too late.
Nature has been my greatest teacher, alongside Mrs Mac in primary school. I was told that the animals I loved wouldn’t be in heaven and I said, what’s the point?
Non human animals have shown me truths that not too many humans would show. The truth that life is more complicated and nuanced than it appears.
Also I am smack bang in the middle of a mid-life crisis.
So.
Gidday!
