In November, the Cross Maniac was arrested and placed in a juvenile detention facility in Campo Grande before being transferred to another unit in Ponta Porã. He remained under juvenile correctional measures for five years and was released in 2013 after reaching the maximum detention age of 21.

Judges of the Mato Grosso do Sul Court of Justice upheld an order for involuntary psychiatric commitment requested by state prosecutors. He was to remain at the UNEI facility until being transferred to a psychiatric institution designated by the state health department.

However, he escaped from the facility on March 3, 2013, before the transfer could occur.

Dyonathan was eventually recaptured on April 27, 2013, in Horqueta, Paraguay, and transferred to the 7th Police Precinct in Campo Grande. He was hospitalized at Santa Casa Hospital and remained there until July 10, when he was transferred to the Campo Grande Penitentiary.

The psychiatric evaluation diagnosed him with “antisocial personality disorder and serial homicidal tendencies,” ( ‘transtorno de personalidade antissocial e homicida em série’ ) in addition to having “low tolerance for frustration, lack of empathy, and absence of feelings of remorse or guilt.” ( ‘baixa tolerância a frustrações, falta de empatia e ausência de sentimentos de remorso ou culpa’ )

In a report from the State Secretariat of Justice and Public Security and Agepen, Dyonathan began taking an Environmental Management course three times a week in distance learning mode at the Catholic University Dom Bosco in 2014 and plans to pursue postgraduate studies.

In the February 2015 report, there was a psychiatric interview of his, where it was stated that Dyonathan "presented as lucid, oriented, and without delusions or hallucinations, but collaborated little with the interview," in addition to avoiding looking at the professional and showing no emotion whatsoever.

On September 30, 2015, Dyonathan was physically restrained after displaying disoriented behavior. He was later transferred to CAPS after becoming ill due to a hunger strike and refusing medication since the night of September 28.

In August 2016, Dyonathan refused to return to his cell after yard time at the Campo Grande Penitentiary. When he was told that force would be used to return him to the cell, he armed himself with a fork and shouted, "Quero ver quem vai me obrigar a entrar naquela cela, vem para ver se não te furo todo." (“I’d like to see who’s going to make me go back into that cell. Come here and see if I don’t stab you.”)

Even after being restrained by three prison guards, he continued to threaten: "Eu mando na cadeia. Eu mando no juiz, na promotora. Eu dou ibope pra TV, vou foder com tua vida. Se eu te pegar eu te mato" ( “I run this prison. I run the judge and the prosecutor. I give ratings to TV stations, I’m gonna fuck up your life. If I catch you, I’ll kill you.”)

There is no further detailed information available about the “Cross Maniac,” but he remains imprisoned in the Maximum Security Facility in Campo Grande. He is considered unable to coexist in society, as he poses a high risk of reoffending. He only receives visits from his mother.
