What is this Strange Place?

after years of being vaguely confused when I came across the measurement “a stick of butter” in recipes, today I learned that in the United States they sell butter in these skinny stick things:

it is literally a stick of butter. A STICK OF BUTTER. 

i have literally never seen butter sold this way. each stick one only amounts to ½ a cup of butter AMERICANS PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT MY WHOLE LIFE WHEN I SAW THE PHRASE “A STICK OF BUTTER” IN RECIPES I WAS IMAGINING THIS:

To balance out Destiny of Ancient Kingoms’ absolute lack of any Norse mythology elements, even though they claim to be based on it, here’s a project which does honor that culture… with male empowerment! 

Seriously though, apart from Jotun, which is unironically good, this is the most knowledgeable spin on Nordic legends that deserved to be featured on BABD (even if not all of those gods are actually Æsir, I’ll let that slide for the sake of double entendre ;)

All the toads are coming out and it’s just delightful to see them but they are constantly getting hit on my little road. Just moved one this evening that had already been hit and damaged one back leg. It breaks my heart but I usually put them out of their misery if they are too hurt but he still seemed pretty perky so I left him alone in a nice quiet place way off the road. I’ve seen many live toads with incredibly gnarly scars and missing limbs and I once saw a bullfrog come back from being partially disemboweled so maybe that little dude can make it too. 

Toads are some of my favorite animals so I love seeing them but at the same time it kinda fills me with dread because I know there will likely be some casualties to come. At least there seems to be a pretty healthy population of them around here. And I’ll keep moving them off the road whenever I can!
