New Cosplays Started! Going big this time!
Very excited to announce weâve finally started making significant progress on our next cosplays. We wanted to go big.. with larger than life characters and props, so we were originally thinking Big Hero 6 would be fun. Â Itâs a cute movie and all, but none of us really felt any connection to the characters we we talked about cosplaying.. which to me, defeats the purpose. Â We have been playing a ton of Smite lately (I decided to start streaming, so if you havenât heard of Smite, check out our YouTube for some game hilights). Smite is crazy addictive, and Iâve become super attached to some of the characters. Â I originally told Terrill I really wanted to build Bellona because of her awesome sword and shield, but we decided that if we were going for big, impressive weapons, I should cosplay Nemisis instead. Â Her original skin is white, pink, and blue, and as much as that appeals, I find her second skin much more striking. Â So my next cosplay will be Nemisis in her âNo Mercyâ skin.
This scares the hell out of me because I have seriously let myself get out of shape over the last year, and especially the last semester. Â I am very uncomfortable with too much skin exposed, so this will be a little out of my comfort zone, but I am going to push myself. Â I honestly think that having my head and face covered will make it a little easier.. but frankly my Athena cosplay is ridiculously hot; with summer approaching, there will be no more scarf and full armor wearing. Â Plus, I am ready for something new. Â The part I am most excited about with Nemisis is the part we already started: the sword!
Terrill scaled her sword to me and construction of a 6 foot long sword has begun.  We are using a 5ⲠPVC pipe as the central support to keep it sturdy and light.  Terrill extracted the models from the game and we were able to print out the exact outline of the sword (on a ton of pieces of paper) and tape them together.  Look at this thing.. itâs gonna be great!!
Terrillâs character has an even more impressive weapon. Â He wants to be Tyr because Tyr has an oversized, light up sword that switches from red to blue. Â So much for comfort in the heat of summer; Terrill is going to die in this thing:
Again, the larger than life weapons and armor is what is really intriguing us here. Â After we finish Nemisisâ sword, I will start on sewing while Terrill devises a plan to create that beast of a sword. Â Previously, on Athenaâs light-up sword, we used plexiglass and roughed it up with sandpaper so the light diffused through it.. but plexiglass is expensive, and for this, we need something a little more translucent, rather than transparent. Â We are brainstorming materials. Â Ps.. I will be super sad to shave the sides of Terrillâs head for this.. I love his hair :/ Hannah and I wonât need wigs this time, out natural hair will be perfect for our characters!!
Speaking of Hannah, no, she doesnât Smite, but she does like to watch. Â She is very excited to get to cosplay Scylla.. an ornery little ginger girl with a temper and a pack of dogs. Â Not even really that much of a stretch, is it??
Scyllaâs hair goes clear down to her butt; so does Hannahâs hair, so no need to do much there. Â Scyllaâs dress will take a lot of time, but I have many costume patterns for little girlsâ dresses; Iâm sure I can create this. Â Still brainstorming what to do for the dogs.. thereâs a lot going on with these cosplays.
We have many new supplies weâve gotten to try out: we made some silicone molds and bought some resin, we got modge podge, plastidip, a few Worbla sheets.. Iâm drawing a blank on what else, but weâve gotten some new supplies I canât wait to dig into. Â I have several props, weapons, and items up for sale on the website and Etsy to fund our new projects; I am so thankful and overwhelmed by the response weâve gotten: We sold 6 items out of the shop in the first week, and a couple more on Etsy. We also got a repeat customer and custom order that was a ton of fun. Itâs incredible, really; thank you all for your support! Â Hopefully the new props will sell quick and Iâll be off to the fabric store to start on these new costumes! Â Please contact us if you have a custom 3D print order or cosplay piece youâd like us to create for you!
Anyway, just updating because I am so excited that we finally started building our new cosplays; there is a 6Ⲡcardboard sword propped up in the corner of my living room Weâre filming the whole process of course.  Go check out the new video streams, and if you want to play Smite with us one night, add us!  Look us up on TwitchTV (our name is pinktrashx, of course) here: http://www.twitch.tv/pinktrashx if you follow us, it will tell you when weâre playing online, and you can play with us!
Check back for Smite cosplay progress.. Not sure what our next con will be. Â If we can make enough off commissions and prop sales, we are hoping to make it to Dragon Con this year!!
