“You know, I almost believe that,” Marlene laughed, arching a brow as she looked down at him. “But unfortunately for you, I was watching for too long to be fooled. You get points for styling it out, though!” 

“Or maybe I was faking it because I simply didn’t want to scare you off with my incredible skill,” he replied with a grin as he pushed him self up from the ice.

“Only because you carry the Black name,” she shrugged, feigning indifference. “What you do reflects on our family.

“Our family? I must have missed the memo that we were back to being a part of the same family again.”

“Is that so?” Really, she didn’t know whether to be impressed, amused, or disappointed. Curious was also somewhere in the mix. “Well, I still suggest you try and get caught less.”

“I didn’t realize you cared so much about my detention record, Bella,” Sirius retorted with a roll of his eyes.

“Oh, I would have loved to see her face!” Marlene laughed, shaking her head at the story. “I’m almost surprised she’s still giving you detentions, though. Would have thought she’d think it a waste of her energy. How many has it been, now?” 

“It really was brilliant,” he replied with a grin as he took a seat in one of the common room’s armchairs. He grimaced as he tried to do the math regarding detentions, “It’s only the start of the term so I’ve only had about three so far, I think. I’ve lost count if we’re counting since first year. I know that I’m still trying to catch up to James though.”

Lily arched a brow. “You know I’ll be expecting you there,” she pointed out. Her words were followed by a chuckle, however. And a shake of her head. Red hair swung with the movement. “If I’m suffering in that room, so are you,” she joked.

“Or we could both just forget to go and do something much more fun instead. I personally think that would be a much better use of our time.”

An unconvinced but almost charmed smile found it’s home on her lips. “You’re something else, Sirius Black,” she told him. “Thursday is my shift for detention, so at least it won’t be too painful for you,” she said.

“Perfect,” Sirius grinned, “then perhaps you can just tell Minnie that I went and was perfect, as always, and I can be free to go about my evening as I’d previously planned.” He was joking of course, unless she agreed to such a plan.

“Really?” she nodded, a slight look of disbelief crossing her face. “Is that why you end up in detention so often?”

“And for every detention that I end up in, there are nearly half a dozen times that I got away with it.”

“So she put you in detention? Where she’s supposed get more of your time and attention. Seems a touch counter-intuitive to me. Wonder what her game is,” Ariel mused, “Unless you’re not telling me everything?” 

Lily snorted. “Did she really?” she asked, not convinced at all but amused by the idea of it. “What day is the detention?” she asked.

“Oh yes,” he replied, nodding his head seriously although he was far from telling the truth. “It’s Thursday evening. At least she had the decency to not ruin my weekend.”

“The fun, dear cousin,” Bellatrix chuckled, quirking a brow at him. “Is in the fact that you can actually get away with more when you don’t get caught.” 

“Oh, I can assure you that I rarely get caught,” he replied with a roll of his eyes. 

“I suspect you called her Minnie as well, which can’t have gone down well either,” she commented.

“It went down extremely well. She loved it,” he grinned.

“Shocking,” Bellatrix rolled her eyes. Secretly, she actually found her cousin’s antics quite amusing, but that was not something she could admit for several reasons. “You know, you really should try not to get into trouble so often.”

“But where would the fun be in that?” he asked, smirking over at his cousin. “It’s not worth it if there’s not a risk of trouble.”

“Hm, couldn’t handle it, you say?” Evan tilted his head and scanned over Sirius’ form for an extended time before smirking. “Clearly, you’ll need escorted to that detention since you cannot be trusted. Other than that, I just think you need the right person to…put you in your place.”

“And don’t tell me you think you’re that person, hm?” Sirius asked, glancing over at Evan.

“I’m shocked that poor woman hasn’t gone off the deep end because of you and your lot yet.” Andy shook her head, “Have you set a school record for detentions yet? I imagine there’s a set detention schedule specifically for you, by now.”

“She loves us, we keep her young,” Sirius retorted with a grin, “I will have soon enough. I just have to beat James.”
