another history making marvel post I never see anyone talk about is āso is nobody helping blade kill all those vampiresā
found it
a thing about me is i basically never notice a wig or other kind of hairpiece in tv/movies. it has to be party city territory for me to even twig it. people will complain about characters' wigs looking bad and i will nod along but there is like a 90% chance i did not notice for a second while watching. i consider this mostly a blessing.
Saw your post from a couple days ago about that person who couldn't let early RWBY go and was fixated on Dust being more important than it ended up being. And while I do agree with what you said in that post, to be a bit of a Devil's Advocate I do think the show was initially planning on making Dust more important than it ended up being. Early on it is a weirdly focused on bit of world building for something that mainly just allows characters to shoot ice bullets and such, and you have stuff like the WoR with Salem making foreboding comments about how Humanity doesn't understand the origin and true consequences of stuff. I think it was gonna get more focus, but was left behind as they decided how Capital M Magic was gonna work in the show. Kind of like the Ozpin tease in the Aura WoR about how mastering your Aura can make you "much more than just a man".
yeah that's a valid point
that said, I'd put solid money that the fixation on the importance of Dust for most of these people has little to do with that, and more to do with hbomb claiming in his review of the Beacon arc that the "Dust heist plotline" goes nowhere, completely ignoring that Cinder says early on in the 2nd volume that they're done stealing Dust, and then on the train Roman and the White Fang are working on, the crates of Dust they stole are clearly visible, on a train that also has giant mechs and the armed White Fang, as well as bombs, and it's very easy to put two and two together on that with it being clear that the aim was to amp up tensions with all the robberies (and strain the Dust supply), then attack the city with an army of Grimm and White Fang, causing a mass panic in all the chaos in the days leading up the tournament, so that citizens will be even more on edge (but Oz and company will be lulled into a false sense of security that they've contained the primary threat)
it always seems to root back to people not paying attention to when the show is communicating something without having a character outright explain it to the audience, and then complaining that it's bad writing
Also, itās very important to note that the Dust Robberies were all extremely high profile stuff, which ended overnight once Roman Torchwick was captured. Qrow directly speaks to this, noting that the fact that the criminal underworld collectively got out of dodge was a massive red flag for him personally, and presumably Ozpin and company in general.
And of course, the idea that Dust overall gets relegated to the background of the story ignores how the Atlesian Dust Embargo both left the world weakened and less defensible AND caused the world to resent Atlas (which will surely be an issue in Volume 10). It also ignores the importance of the SDC, and how Jacques behavior surrounding it informs both Weissā character and the themes of Trust, Pragmatism, and Selfishness that run throughout Volume 7 and 8.
So yeah.
just spent an hour assembling a new desk chair

Oh okay Arcsys making the Erica shorts a series is them softlaunching her as the last character for season five right
i think it's hilarious that the only person helping Erica out at all as VP is the fucking alien
you must remember that you're gonna continue to find things (art, nature, people, etc) that amaze you and ground you and you're gonna be glad to be alive to experience it
I can't make this kind of decision. I'll screw it up. Lara, this is your life. Whether we work with Waller or not, you have to have a say in this. We can figure it out together, but we can't do that unless you trust yourself.
This is your reminder today that Irene Adler in the original Conan Doyle story is literally not a criminal. She never commits a crime.
Nor is she a seductress in any kind of negative or manipulative sense - she has a mutual relationship with a powerful man who then breaks up with her, and afterwards she keeps protection against him in the form of evidence that the relationship existed. She HAS blackmail material, she even waves it at him threateningly because he treated her like shit, but she never even uses it.
Irene Adler is not a thief, femme fatale, or blackmailer. She's just a cool lady that wants to be left alone.
@delphi-star You do recall correctly!! She does not give a shit about that man! She's happily married! She tipped him for being a witness at her wedding!
If your Sherlock Holmes adaptation has a character whose identifying qualities are that she is a seductive criminal in love with Holmes, you have created a character that is basically the literal opposite of Irene Adler and you should name her something else.
She's also -- and I cannot stress this enough -- from New Jersey. IMO this is the single most important detail missing from all the adaptations -- IRENE ADLER IS FROM NEW JERSEY.
Please just once in my life I would like to see this adapted faithfully it would be the funniest fucking thing ever.

Oh for chrissake everyone was so busy comparing Eradicator to Doomsday that I totally missed he's actually Cell. And now here he is in his handsomer, more human looking perfect form to destroy us all.
no offense but you guys need to learn the difference between someone implying their experience is universal and a post simply just not being about you

Sapphire having a sword she has to reload with crystal cartridges like a gun because channeling her power through regular weapons makes them disintegrate is fantastic
watching the Ribbon Hero anime movie and this Velvet dude straight up sucks
