π I LOVE HELIOSBOAMON π€
sometimes i see an opinion i disagree with, and from a combination of wanting to keep up appearances, avoid flak, and cut to the heart of the issue, i draft a series of increasingly abstract responses, eventually culminating in typing out "falsehoods aren't true", which, in a perfect act of autofellatio, deletes itself
You also purchase CDs once and as long as nothing happens to them you get to keep them forever.
and if you have a computer with a disc drive, you can move the content of those CDs onto it and then burn it onto future CDs. it doesn't even have to be the same album. you can make a playlist with physical media. you just have access to all of it, at your whim, with no unskippable ads being shoved in your ears. it's really nice!
And if you have a CD player (or an adapter) you can listen in the car, on back roads, in the middle of crowded city streets, or when everyone on the air wants to talk about sports when you just want to hear some Hozier.
i am so intrigued by Dandelion Dispatch - evidently Heartless showing up in Quadratum is now a regular enough problem that they have systems in place to alert when they show up and send in forces to try and slow the Heartless down until the Keyblade Wielders show up
we don't really get a sense of how time passes in Quadratum compared to the main KH-verse, but the Missing-Link leaked opening and what we know of the game suggests the intention is that this has been happening at the very least since then - and Sora showing up might have made it worse
(given it's implied Ava has been here this whole time, Dandelion Dispatch might have been setup by her?)
but this raises the question of how Yozora factors into all this, and why he has a weapon that can incorporate a Keyblade (i had originally assumed it was capable of incorporating potentially any weapons, but these new revelations suggest to me it's specifically for Keyblades), like is he part of this military that works alongside the Dandelions, with a specialised tool designed to incorporate a Keyblade in an emergency and use its abilities, bypassing that he's not one of the Keyblade's chosen? or is he part of a faction that is against the Dandelions and wants them gone because of the effects their influence is having on his world? (is that why he's wearing a patch with a skull and crossed keyblades?)
and then how is Luxord factoring into this, we know he works under Yozora, but we don't know if he's from Quadratum or if he originates from the KH-verse (presumably as a contemporary of Sigurd) - we know he's tied to the "ancient Keyblade legacy" or whatever somehow, but does that mean he's actually a Wielder, or is it his involvement here going up against Wielders - did he lose his heart on this side of things, and because Quadratum works differently, his body was transported through into the main KH-verse to become a Nobody?
much to speculate about

I love Shakespeare
New KH4 Sora render!!
source
i am curious about Strelitzia's Keyblade essentially being half-summoned here, because it stays like that throughout the whole zoom-in, like that's as far as she's even able to summon it, cos that's not really something we've ever seen before
WHAT DID DO WE THINK OF THE FULL TRAILER PEOPLE?!

Every "rewrite" of this show I've seen has been legit dogwater or just wish fulfillment
well yeah, it's always from people who have zero experience in or knowledge of show production (it's very easy to go "well why not have this, that and this here" as an armchair fic writer who isn't having to worry about managing budget and resources and production times), and have conflated "i didn't get what i want out of the show" with "bad writing"; and because they don't pay attention to what the show is actually doing or saying, they completely fall flat on narrative and thematic standpoints
on top of that, a concerning number of them tout themselves as 'better' than the source material - without the self-awareness to acknowledge that they are a) not having to worry about whether or not their 'rewrites' would be feasible to actually make within the budgets of each volume, b) working with the benefit of hindsight that the people in production didn't have and c) aren't having to make all of this up wholesale - every 'rewrite' is using the original characters, lore, and narrative as a framework that they are building their thing off of, so they didn't have to really do any of the hard work with worldbuilding or anything, and often completely fall flat without the original context of the story they are spitefully claiming to be making better (the most infamous of these spite fics is literally a guy narrating what happens and often just going 'yeah that scene plays out the same as in the source material', which is about as interesting as 'then my favourite character gives a witty one-liner" and "a man does a thing")
like it's easy to go "here i made this better" when you don't actually have to do any of the hard work and are just moving things about because you didn't like where the story went instead of moving on with your life
I'm already seeing a number of posts about the upcoming Kingdom Hearts anime going
"which game are they adapting? is it going to be canon?"
and one that said "I'm glad they're adapting it because they can strip back the convolutedness of the series"
and it's just like
this is kind of microcosming the problem of people not paying attention and then condemning the series for it
the announcement posts all make it very clear that it isn't an adaptation of any of the games and that the show will be set within the universe of the games
not only that, but the character in the key art clearly isn't Sora - it's not not any of his outfits, not his Keyblade, not his hairstyle
all easily available information that would've been attained by paying attention and looking into it for more than two seconds
and that lack of paying attention is why detractors pin the series as being "overly convoluted" when it isn't - layered and complex, certainly, but it's all easy to understand and makes sense, and every game adds onto the story and the lore in a sort of modular way where every thing leads into the next thing
the games are a story that's meant to be experienced in order so you have the next thing
hopping into the fourth book in a series, turning to page 97 and then complaining that it doesn't make any sense isn't the fault of the creator, that's very much a you problem (and there genuinely were people who hopped in on KH3 with zero experience with the series beforehand and complained that it didn't make sense as if that's the game's fault - and the excuse was always "well I'm not gonna buy 8 different consoles just to experience the full story" as if the HD collections of all the games prior to 3 barring the mobile titles hadn't been available even before KH3 came out)
now, there is the problem of lore reveals and information being in the mobile games that are no longer available, however I'm fairly sure that either those stories will be made available in some form or another (either by remaking them as solo titles, like Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is being remade into Final Fantasy Resonance, or some other method - like how 358/2 Days and Re:Coded weren't remade for consoles for the HD collections but instead remade as cutscene movies), or that the information necessary from them will be reconveyed as the new games unfold, especially as none of our main characters were there for that information being revealed in the mobile games due to those games happening decades to centuries prior
the anime is likely to be intended as a new entry point to get new people introduced to the series - as the character in the image is from the Dark Road era, it's likely to be set in a period far removed from the main cast, and decades prior to the events of any of the core series, so it can be used to on-board people to the basic lore and cosmology of the series and get people invested in the world and setting (but that doesn't mean they'll be able to then pick up Kingdom Hearts 4 and understand what's going on, see the point about page 97, it's likely meant for 'if you think you'll like this, there's a lot more of this setting in the games')
