He drops off the gift — wrapped in electric purple, with a rather subtle sheen to it — at the checkout, along with his purchases for the day. (And it's a far more average amount than that of his first visit here.)

Joshua shifts his weight, sliding a hand down his back pocket as he waits for them to be rounded and ringed up. "Still helping Beat out on your birthday of all days? My, my. What a sweet friend you are." He doesn't bother stifling his giggle. Surely— hopefully, Neku understands it's meant as both an actual, genuine compliment, and a very indirect suggestion to take it easy, for today at least.

Once it's all been paid for and packaged, Joshua motions his chin towards the gift in reminder, as does he spout before heading out the door, "happy birthday, Neku."

"Hope you've been craving for some gl—"

With the purple packaging entering his peripheral, all of the motions of Neku’s once busy hands slow to a stop. He turns his eyes to look at it first, then his head, then he looks at Joshua. It’s very clear that Neku hadn’t even begun to consider getting something from Joshua, but he doesn’t say anything about that. He doesn’t have time to ask about it because Joshua has already taken it upon himself to fill the silence.

Amused, Neku releases a sigh through his nose and gets back to rounding everything up. “Yeah, but don’t say it to him like that. I have a feeling he’d carry me out the door — literally.” Joshua may be suggesting that he take it easy, but he’s here to keep busy, give himself less to think about. He’s perfectly content right now.

         That is, of course, until Joshua opens his mouth again.
