I don’t consider Draxum a parent. Did he genetically engineer these turtles? Absolutely, but that doesn’t make him a parent and Mikey wanting him to be one doesn’t mean he is.
I think with enough time and effort the boys could consider him if they so choose, but he’s most definitely not a parent
Did you happen to notice the stans entitlement when it comes to Leosagi? Not saying all of them are like that, if anything I found them pretty talented artists! But there are bad apples of them that would get pissed off if they happen to found people not liking that ship, or God forbid, completely disinterested of the ship.

I personally just don’t enjoy Usagi’s character (the teenager, the adult I find super funny) and I think he’s a more watered down version of riseLeo. The fandom is definitely entitled and it makes me wanna engage with them even less, I genuinely believe it’s just a very overhyped mediocre ship lol. Treating it as canon is the biggest problem in any fandom and Leo / sagi’s are no different in that aspect.
At the end of the day, I block them, mute the ship and any version and continue my day because I know that fanon is just that and the canon rise tv show has no romance for the boys, thankfully!!

Leo’s children formed inside of an egg initially, but Monet ended up growing outside of the sac and was underdeveloped when born.
Money was an unexpected third turtle and the immediate aftermath of his arrival was the most distraught Leo has ever been. Severe complications of the baby’s body and mind; lack of oxygen, nerve receptors being numb while causing severe pain and some organs were even latched on the outside of the babes body.
It was the most beautiful and horrific experience of Leon’s life that shaped how he treated his boy. Pampered, spoiled, even thought of being an angel, he never wanted him to be a fighter. He thought the beginning of Monet was full of pain enough to last 6 life times. Despite this, Monet tries so hard to be capable and his older siblings make sure he gets to experience life in its entirety much to their father’s dismay.
its so interesting to me how leo doesnt only use humor as a coping mechanism but his like number one tactic when dealing with most trauma and stress seems to be just to kind of plugging his ears and pretending it isn't happening. everything slides right off him because he lived, because it's not a big deal, because raph or donnie or his dad were there and had a solution (and he does seem pretty insecure about this at times), he can hide behind someone or something else and curl up and not think about it and that works up until the movie where it nearly gets everyone killed, because he's convinced himself that they're still just running around and doing silly adventures with low stakes and raph will fix everything anyway, why does he have to worry about it, when the stakes have risen and there's no more free room to be reckless and irresponsible. its not funny anymore
and it seems kind of character regressive at first glance (i have talked about why i think that is from a meta perspective, but im not looking at authorial intent here and instead analyzing the text from my own perspective) but i am so interested in the idea of it being a response to karai's death just as much as raph being kind of a hardass (/aff) is. maybe his initial response of just kind of sighing in relief and moving on was earnest (because like i do think he is pretty nonchalant), but at the end deep down he might have already realized that things had changed, he was just struggling to accept it internally because it meant having to confront his own feelings (it also explains why he seems more practical in the show and bratty in the beginning of the movie)
this is the most splinter like thing about him honestly. splinter idolizes his glory days and that includes the traumatic parts (like his relationship with big mama and the battle nexus) because he seems to deny that its even trauma at all. tbh i could see him having a lot of emotional amnesia due to dissociation, and i could see leo falling into that trap too really quickly

NO YOURE SO RIGHT. If there’s a problem, no there isn’t. And if there is, it’s a lmao. And I think it’s both a he just dgaf in general (this kids riddled with anxiety but he’s also just a goober and carefree) but also because he. does not want to confront things. He likes his comfort zone, it’s comfy!
The point about Karai’s death is interesting. I’ve always interpreted early movie Leo as just, not trying to lead. That boy has never taking his dad seriously once and he’s not gonna start now that he wants to change their working system. He doesn’t wanna so he doesn’t, he’s stubborn. Nobody doubles down more than Leo when he’s made his mind up about something. You gotta rattle the kid big time for him to realize he is, in fact, not handling this correctly
He spends the rest of the finale showboating. He just. needs to pretend that didn’t happen. Needs to pretend they didn’t lose someone. That can’t happen again, won’t happen again, because Shredder is gone so they’re just goofy kids again and it doesn’t matter
In the movie it’s all a joke! Raph and I are arguing again no biggie. He’ll chillax! Who cares? Dad made me the leader?? Pffft, since when does Dad make the decisions for us? Apocalyptic future? Hey, this guy thinks he’s so cool when the worlds ending. And the Foot Clan stuff is so boring who cares if they’re about to summon aliens? (He cares. In that fight he’s trying, he’s looking to Raph to listen to CJ and not retreat. He’ll get the key—) Lol nerds
And then he freezes the moment there’s nothing to joke about, and he can’t pretend what happened to Raph didn’t. The poor kid could barely move, Oh—but what he can do? Deflect, place blame, pretend he has his shit together, knows how to lead. He’s so got this guys. It’s fine. It’s fine
And then he doesn’t and he can’t crack a joke, and he can’t hide from the future CJ threw at him. So he sits, for a moment, then moves and has some genuine character development (aforementioned double down rattle cycle). But then it’s right back to jokes, so glad you guys didn’t die hahahh I totally didn’t almost get you killed lol we good—omg Raph, he freezes again.
The moment he has to confront his family’s mortality he just. can’t. Ever. Any time. This time he stays in shock until he realizes he can do something. He doesn’t have the answers, but he can face man, he can inspire his team who do have the skills (and for the record, I do think Leo genuinely had hope here. I believe in the duality of this guys got bad coping mechanisms but also is just a chill and happy dude). He doesn’t even entertain the idea of not being able to bring Raph back. He has no idea how, but he gambles his life before he allows that to be an option. At this point and for the rest of the movie he’s, rightfully, scared. But he’s trying. He might crack a joke here or there but he’s not hiding anymore—he has to step up this time. And yeah, Leo gets the immature allegation a lot. Because, yeah, he’s a kid who’s trying to hide from the big scary world thats suddenly on his shoulders. They were just supposed to stop paper thieves.
I feel like this is partly why he has these insecurities. He’s gone so long thinking other people will fix things he doesn’t even think he’s capable (and he spent S1 struggling with his portals when Raph and Mikey picked things up fast). He admitted to feeling useless in the maze of death, even if it was one off, I think there were genuine insecurities behind that. And they didn’t think he could do things (S1 finale), and then he had a complex of things Raph didn’t like how he did things, how carefree he was; Leo wasn’t ready to confront the danger, any time he did it was too much. It’s scary to know your family is in danger, especially when you’re 14-16 years old and suddenly responsible for them when your self-confidence in moments that count isn’t always there.
The internal narratives this guy makes up gotta be crazy. I feel like he’d get so far removed from what’s actually going on sometimes. I could see him being really clinical about his feelings and just. not feeling them. Kinda mirroring Donnie, who’s feelings are overwhelming.
Leo being really afraid of losing his family to being the second to last survivor of the resistance…
