My mom moved out of the US a few years ago after spending a good portion of her life in America. She was very excited to come visit again, especially to parts of the US that she'd never been to before. This incident happened to her when she was visiting last February, right before the Covid outbreak in America. I wasn't really there, but when my mom told me the event, I saw sadness in her eyes, she couldn't understand why the woman treated her like that other than the fact that she was Asian. She'd always seen America as a place of greatness that embraces everyone, instead, she felt unwelcomed.

Nobody should ever feel unsafe in a place they called home.
