Time is interesting, isn’t it? It’s a construct we’ve imposed on ourselves, and it flies by so damned fast, no matter how closely we try to keep up with the flow. Annoying.

So many things change. People leave, some constants become inconsistent over the course of time – but if I’ve learned anything lately, it’s how many things will truly always remain the same, even when the universe proves just how strange or unkind it can be in the process.

I’m a very firm believer in being true to oneself. I’ve known who I am for most of my life, it was never much of a question. I’ve always been sure of myself and nearly nothing else. I haven’t been completely honest beyond my own head and heart, however.

Whether I made this decision in my twenties or my fifties doesn’t matter. There’s no better time than now to be who I am, to do so proudly and openly.

I want to reintroduce myself to everyone. I’m still Imai, but I am a woman, and I would appreciate it if everyone could try to use feminine pronouns when referring to me from now on. If we’re close, please call me Maimai.
