Evelyn’s p.o.v.

Before I even realise I am back in that place again. A year ago hanging out with my dog listening to this song, over and over again. It was a normal evening ritual, dancing with Rosie in my arms, getting licked to death getting ready to pop into the shower. I was avoiding going because I wasn’t feeling up for it. Yes exam week has just passed but I didn’t feel like celebrating as the burden of where my future takes me hovers over my head.

If my parents really saw the extend of my cooking skills, they would have a heart attack but my grilled cheese sandwiches are a novelty and I proud myself of being an expert of cooking them. Eating away and thinking about my first day of college tomorrow I fall into my imagination but zone out of the radio. Once I return I realise what was playing. I run over and shut it off quickly. It is still too raw.

I can’t believe that it has been a year already. 365 days have past and it still feels as raw as it was this time last year. I still think about the what if’s I still think of what would have happened if I had gone. I think about how things would be different now. Just sat wondering and thinking.

Dumping my bags on the porch and staring at my new home. I’m missing my family already and my comfort but it is time to start living. I am beyond lucky that my parents have given me this and with college starting things are looking up.
