take heart

It doesn’t take a genius to notice her trembling hands or the way her voice shakes as she stumbles through a few words here and there. The last person he’d been expecting to see here was a Glaive—or a Glaive-in-training, considering her word choice.

“Yeah, I am. Nice to see one of his glaives made it out, at least.”

Though how anyone had made it out, given the state the city had been in when he’d seen it, was a miracle on its own. But he was thankful for the few people that did make it out.

It’s not unusual to run into other hunters out here, as he’s met plenty of others that took the same hunt as they and not all of them were pleasant.

But this is different–very different–as when he turns and sees the hunter, he hears her speak his name, using even his title that he didn’t hear very often these days.

“Yeah? And who’re you?” he asks, pulling his sword from the creature and letting it fade back into his phantom arsenal, but he’s a quick draw of it turns out he needs it.

   she is unbelieving of her own eyes, it truly is the prince she has heard so much about. the one they were all fighting so hard to protect. shakily, she lowers her bow before taking a step forward.
