@tanushakyrano reacted like this:
Do you think fanfiction is real literature?
Helloooo, would you mind helping out a uni student by taking a five minute survey about fanfiction? Yes? Yay! I'm writing an article about why fanfiction should be considered 'real literature' and it would help me so so much if you would click on the link below and answer a few short questions!! I'll post a link to the article once it's written so you can read it if you like (it should be published just before Christmas) :))) Thank you!!!
Link to the survey here
or you can scan this QR code :)

The finished article is now available online :))

âYou want to be an author? Thatâs awesome! I could never do that, Iâm so bad with wordsâ
Me searching for words similar to âslowlyâ for the fifth time and then going to google the definition of each word just to make sure it means slowly:

Writing Grief: Beyond the Stereotypes
Grief comes in many forms. Weâre often taught that grief only follows deathâbut in truth, grief is far more complex than that. As writers, understanding the many faces of grief can help us craft scenes with deeper authenticity and emotional resonance.
In this post, weâll explore different types of grief to help you write characters who feel real, layered, and human.
Grieving the Living
Grief doesnât only come from death. You can grieve someone whoâs still alive.
- A breakup, whether romantic or platonic, can leave someone mourning the version of the relationship they once had.
- Estrangement from family can feel like a living lossâespecially when the person is still physically present but emotionally gone.
This kind of grief is often overlooked, but it can be just as devastating as bereavement.
Grieving While Alive
Sometimes, grief comes from within.
When someone is in a dark emotional or mental space, just existing can feel like a burden. They may grieve the life they thought theyâd have, the person they used to be, or the hope theyâve lost.
It might sound strange, but for someone in pain, every breath can feel like a reminder of whatâs missing. This kind of grief is deeply personal and often invisibleâbut itâs real.
Grieving a Part of Yourself
Another form of grief thatâs rarely discussed is the loss of a part of oneâs body or identity.
- Losing a limb, a sense (like sight or hearing), or even a career-defining ability can trigger intense grief.
- Itâs not just about physical lossâitâs about mourning what you used to be able to do, and who you were before.
This kind of grief can lead to depression, identity crises, and a long journey of adaptation and healing.
Why This Matters in Storytelling
Grief is not one-size-fits-all. Itâs messy, unpredictable, and deeply personal.
By exploring the many dimensions of grief, you can write characters who feel authentic and relatable. Readers connect with stories that reflect their own experiencesâeven the ones theyâve never been able to name.
Understanding grief in its many forms allows you to:
- Add emotional depth to your characters
- Create more nuanced, human stories
- Offer comfort and validation to readers who may be grieving themselves
Final Thoughts
Grief is not just about death. Itâs about loss in all its formsârelationships, identity, ability, hope.
As a writer, your job isnât to simplify grief. Itâs to honor its complexity and give it space on the page. When you do, you create stories that resonate, heal, and endure.
I hope this helps you write with more empathy and insight.
Happy writing.
this fanfiction shit easy af
"Iâd rather fucking die."
"Okay."
Holds a knife to his throat.
"Lean into it, then."
Scott looks at the man, a strange light in his eyes. And leans forward into the knife.
With a curse his captor pulls it away and stares at him, slightly wild-eyed.
âMan, you have issues!â
âYou have no ideaâŚâ
Fandom advent day 13
Gordon got nicknamed 'squid' during basic training after he bit open the ink barrel of a pen he was idly chewing on. He spent a solid minute staring into middle distance with ink dripping down his chin trying to figure out what to do before he was dismissed to go and clean himself up.
wouldn't it just be so funny if I randomly dropped a new piece of the YP verse on an average Thursday evening
