Basically, a college student did a project on the 39 Clues for one of their classes where they made a webpage to resemble the old 39 Clues message board. They wrote a bunch of posts from the perspectives of the characters on it updating the rest of the Cahill family on what they’ve been doing since the series ended and the old message board was deleted.

when did you start reading the 39 clues? how much older are you now?

1. 13 - 7th grade and I had to choose a “mystery” book for a report, for which I convinced my teacher to read the 39 Clues, as I was knee deep in the PJO fandom. It was way below my grade level, but I had spent the previous summer reading Wuthering Heights and Pride and Prejudice, so I wanted an easy book report. I proceeded to drag my whole friend group of guys into the fandom. We divided ourselves into branches, talked about theories. We were also PJO nerds. That was over a decade ago, but not quite two decades ago.

2. Original Series + Black Book of Buried Secrets + Cahills vs Vespers. Day of Doom was absolutely diabolical on the ending, and I felt the series went drastically downhill the last two books. I’ve picked up a few odd ball future books as well as stalking the wiki page to see how the other series have gone, but sometimes you can stretch a series so far that it loses momentum (see current Marvel fandom). To me, Vespers was a fine ending.

3. Yes! I’ve refreshed myself on book #3, 9, and 10 to write fanfics and treat them like textbooks to the source material when I need to recall events. Of course, I think the books aren’t as appealing now than I’m an adult. (“Where are all the adults?!?!” I cry out as I read. Nellie needed a major raise.). Kids are very simplistic. I think the fandom has shaped their own intrinsic view of these characters, especially with fanfiction. But I was on Fanfiction way back in the day - a little “creative liberty” and shared fandom ideas created our own views of these characters beyond canon material. The biggest thing I’ve realized since reading is that Ian really is a little butt.
