I think my favorite aspect of this fandom is the fact that people think the criticism it receives is unwarranted.

Like…suddenly there was all of this backlash against white male LIs, and it’s just ~annoying discourse~. But, of course, nobody ever wants to talk about why this criticism began in the first place.

This fandom has revealed itself time and time again to not take the perspectives of the WoC in the fandom into account. It’s not fair to us that the white male LI is often the most easily accessible, and unavoidable. If every LI of color received the same amount of attention, this wouldn’t be a problem. But PB has shown that the white male LI (unless customizable—and sometimes even then [TRR & NightBound]) is the default and everyone else is the other. A common fandom overexaggeration is that we’re saying all white male LIs are forced, and for that I’m gonna say you’re being annoyingly obtuse on purpose. Because the underrepresentation of LIs of color doesn’t effect you, so you don’t give two shits.
