Happy 'Gnu' Year!

Creating this leopard artwork today has been therapeutic in a time of great stress, fearing I might once again possibly lose my house and place of work to a wildfire. In this case, the Kincade wildfire here in Sonoma County. On top of the fire, we were without power for most of the end of October. This has been one heck of a roller coaster of emotions and fear, and an unfortunate feeling of deja vu... too many things were similar to two years ago, but fortunately this time we did not have the loss of life and as many homes and businesses destroyed. I really have to thank CalFire for the amazing work they did to combat this fire in the face of diablo winds! I was hoping to enter the free-for-all this month's fauna focus, but this time it wasn't just because I procrastinated and didn't finish in time... For now, my place of work and home are safe, but until the rains come, I will be on edge. (Well, at least a little less...)

Today is World Okapi Day, and here is my first drawing with Adobe Fresco on the iPad. It is interesting, I'll definitely have to get used to it.

Today is International Raccoon Day. It is also the start of Inktober, and today's prompt word ring is fitting for a raccoon. Now, as much as I would like to make artwork every day this inktober, I don't think I'll be able to. I will do as much as I can.

This month's fauna focus species is the spotted hyena, so here is my sketch-along (though a little late, heh).

Today is National Dog Day... and World Painted Dog Day (aka African Wild Dog Day). I colored a past sketch from 2011.
