//PSA: I’m away for vacation since last week and until the 25th.
Last weekend I had my convention volunteer work, that I’ve been doing for the past 20 years. And from today until the 25th I’m being a menace to the Brits in England, doing a small UK tour to visit friends and also my bf.
Should have probably done this last week before I started my vacation, but my brain did a dumb and forgot completely.

Each region of Runeterra seemed to have its own flavour of anguish, founded in their experiences and history. There was a special kind of torment found in those who frequented the Shadow Isles and hunkered down on outposts, fighting to stay relevant in the fuming seas. With the ever-present danger of the Isles themselves and the terrors of the Harrowing, the pirates, treasure hunters and inn keepers were as tense as bowstrings, ready to snap under the slightest pressure.
And Evelynn loved those who lost their nerves so easily. They were particularly easy to charm, clinging to any chance to forget their woes and fears for only a moment. And whether it be little tricks and stories by the fire - Sultur's preferred method of easing someone into the salivating jaws of his better half - or the promise of a steamy night, if you picked the right target, even the most experienced treasure hunter, weathered by the horrors of the Isles themselves, turned into a writhing, squealing piglet with meat delicious enough to slurp off the bones.
Evelynn was resting on the roof of a tavern, skin gleaming pale purple underneath the sparse moonlight and deep pink flames in her hair and claws glowing. She had just finished eating, her victim still stuck in the rattles of its dying breath, strung up in the loft of the pub. The woman was not dead, though she might bleed out by the time the sun came up. With her stomach relatively full, Evelynn now saw the perfect opportunity to leave this island behind and head back to the mainland, whether that be Valoran or Shurima. She just had to find a ship with a big enough crew. After all, it would be unbecoming to leave a lady starving on her voyage.
As Evelynn kept scanning the ships, trying to figure out which one would be good enough to stowaway on, a sudden commotion drew her attention. The scuffling of feet, angry screams and hoarse barking laughter. Was Vora hunting? She shouldn't be doing that. She was far too volatile to kill discreetly or fast. Evelynn skipped down the roof she had been relaxing on, and dropped onto the wall beside the tavern. Her lashers rose, the tips trembling with concern. She could choose to look away. After all, most of the people on this outpost were so preoccupied with the Shadow Isles and the Harrowing, which could start any day now, that a missing person would hardly be noticed. Even if Vora bit off a good chunk from their sides. And well, who was Evelynn to not let this greedy little dog have her kill?
Then, Evelynn noticed who Vora had pushed into the alleyway and whom she tried to kill. It was not the first time the demon had seen her. These days, recognising this pale white skin and that black hair bound into a tight ponytail came easily. Her cobalt blue bodysuit showed gashes and tears, smeared with crimson blood, which seemed to rival her cape and glasses in colour. Even the cape's edges were frizzled. Parts of the braid had become undone. The woman known to the public as the Nighthunter continued trying to dodge Vora's advances, but the alleyway allowed little room to manoeuvre.
Her pain permeated the air. Evelynn swallowed a mouthful of drool. It did not matter that she had already eaten. This woman's pain harboured such a specific note that it always triggered the demon's cravings. Though right now, the physical pain overwhelmed the usually simmering emotional and mental anguish, which Evelynn preferred the taste of. From the physical pain, the demon could infer that Vora had managed to land several very lucky strikes, including an extremely nasty wound on Shauna's leg. Her sides were bleeding as well.
Vora kept snapping with her large fangs protruding from her mouth for Vayne's chest or throat. The only reason Shauna was not dead yet was the fact that Vora was too primal and hungry to aim precisely enough. However, that lack of precision was only a sparring blessing as Vora had large claws, even larger than Evelynn's. If one of those swipes or her bone-crushing teeth connected in a sensitive area, you were done for.
When Vora missed another swipe, that would have spilt out Shauna's guts if it had connected, Evelynn had seen enough. As much as she enjoyed her lesser playthings, there were certain meals she would not share with anyone. And Shauna Vayne was on top of that list. That woman was someone whose pain she had cultivated far too much to let anyone else snap it up from her. Slipping into her demon shade, Evelynn leapt forward, swung her lashers around and slammed them straight into Vora's back. Penetrating right through, the other demon yowled and reared up, clawed arms flailing about.
As Vora's scream faded away, it was replaced by a languid moan, and she licked her fangs. "Evelynn?", she asked with that gargled voice of hers, "More! Need more!"
"Sorry, Vora, but not tonight." With these words, Evelynn threw the other demon backwards, making her skitter on the floor and roll over. Evelynn turned around, positioning herself in a way that would allow her to strike again if Vora chose to contest. The other demon got up, spitting and hissing. "Need more!", she growled again.
"Go and find Sutur, if you are that hungry!", Evelynn told her coldly, "That one isn't yours, you little mouth full of teeth. Now go. I might feed you later if I am in the mood for it, sweetheart."
Vora whimpered once more; however, she then obediently disappeared back into the dark. Evelynn turned around and found a wrist-mounted crossbow pointed straight at her face. The demon rolled her eyes. Exiting her demon shade to appear more approachable, she crooned: "Shauna, darling, you are still injured. Put that crossbow down before I finish what Vora attempted to do and actually ensure you cannot use that leg of yours anymore."
The Night Hunter had seemingly bitten off more than she could chew. What was meant to be an excursion to an isle near the Shadow Isles, for investigation and perhaps a spectre or two that dared to venture outside the reaches of the Black Mist. Instead, she was ambushed by a demonic creature. And one more skilled than most that she hunted. Or perhaps just lucky...
What she never would expect, was to find her personal quarry right here and in front of her. The demoness that existed as the root of her anguish and suffering. The very one that started her descent into hunting the unnatural and monstrous.
And for a moment, inside her mind that had been hell-bent on getting her revenge, hunting anything inhuman and exacting her verdict and justice, the memories of that fateful night flooded back to her. For that moment she felt again like the just-turned sixteen year old girl, her parents just murdered in cold blood. The frightened girl that saw the demon that did this to them, to her.
As if by automatic instinct, she had raised her right arm, her fist clenched firmly. The wrist-mounted crossbow on her loaded with one of her silver bolts. Gleaming in the barely lit night, aimed albeit shakily at her target.
Icy blue eyes staring directly at the demoness, from behind crimson shades. Sweat and blood staining her pale skin, the loose strands of her disheveled ponytail stuck to her by the fluids. The cuts on her side stung lightly, they were not too deep luckily. But the wound on her leg ached like a hot fire within her flesh.
Gritting her teeth as much against the pain, both physical and mental she snarled between pained breaths "Silence your tongue, wretched demon."
A click, and the bolt inside her weapon fired itself, past her target's head and embedding itself in the wall behind.
"Tch..." Her hand hastily went for one of the spare bolts she kept fastened to the sides of her heels. She could feel her muscles shake, aching to keep steady and do as she wanted.
Though her situation being dire, she had no interest in giving up just like that. Her fingers finally managed to unfasten the clasp that held the bolt on her heels. Grasping it within her hand firmly, her eyes burned with defiance and a deep-seated hate for the creature standing before her.
Keeping her eyes locked with Evelynn's she spat out the blood that had gathered in her mouth, to the ground. "So... You're here to finish the job, is that it...? Have your minion do the dirty work and then claim the prize?"
@flordivina -Continued from here-
A faint rise of the corner of her red-painted lips, at the mention of dark crimson walls, betrayed the faintest of emotions, of the Night Hunter. "He always was paranoid when it came to you. Especially when it comes to this place, after that." Shauna knew of the incident that the sorceress referred to, though not present for it herself.
Off course she knew that the one before her, would most like;y me a mirage, a clone or whatever it was that defined the Deceiver's doubles. No one in their right minds, with magical abilities like hers, would willingly bring themselves within Demacia's pearly white walls.
The huntress' icy blue eyes scanned the slow movements made by the other woman, from behind her crimson-tinted spectacles. Not expecting any foul intent, but she had a hard time to ever shut off that survivor's instinct and being ready for anything at all times.
Against her better knowledge, she still expected the touch on her cheek to be cold, or even lacking any temperature, but not warm. Somehow Emilia was always able to either mimic or transfer the sensation of warmth, even through her copied visages.
A few seconds was all she could manage to give the other before she stepped away from her. Being close around others like this was not her cup of tea. Taking off her armaments, placing them on a table at the foot of her bed she let out a faint chuckle.
"Oddly pleasing that I can manage to keep myself hidden from even the likes of you then." Harsh words perhaps, but it was a comfort to know that if she willed it so, that even the Black Rose would have the utmost difficulty in keeping their eyes on her.
Taking a seat on the side of her bed, where moments ago the matron was, taking off her heels, Shauna sat in just her cobalt blue leather bodysuit, eyes still looking from behind those crimson shades at the the ebony-haired woman.
"Surely a mortal such as me holds little significance to an everliving such as yourself. Were I to truly vanish and draw my last, it would be like the blink of an eye that I existed, in comparison to your longevity, Emilia. And I have no doubt if such a thing happened, the entire darker side of this world would know of it before long. There are too many that would rejoice and be unable to keep quiet about that, don't you think?"
Crossing her legs and resting her hands on top of them, she would almost look like the noblewoman she was meant to be. Were it not for her attire, off course.
"So that's what this is? Just to express worry and seeing me? Nothing more? Or trying to guilt me in keeping contact? Surely you know better than that, Matron."
There was only one silhouette in Valoran, who would know how to bypass every mechanism & details of the Vayne estate, was it not? At least, one that would be capable of filling the entirety of the living room in flowers —mainly thousands upon thousands of Roses— overnight without making a single misplaced sound. Call her particularly cheeky if one may, for the petals forming a trail to follow up to her room, where the main blossom would be awaiting, basking in the moonlight’s glow framing her like a halo above solely lace covering her form...
“Lower your weaponry, ma charmante chauve-souris… You know I don’t come with ill intentions tonight... Unless you are more up for that type of play during this date, I don’t mind~ ♥” The Enchantress would dedicate a delicate & playful smile towards the Huntress, before resting more comfortably on her side upon the duvets & pillows. Porcelain fingers drumming above the fabrics.
“Welcome home, Shauna. I had missed you~ ♥”
Despite the signs of everything leading up to her visitor's identity, Shauna knew very well that looks could be deceiving. Especially one way or another with Emilia Leblanc. But more so with her own personal history and the inhuman creatures that stalked the night.
Her arm still raised for a few seconds more, eyes scanning from behind those crimson shades. Scanning her surroundings for anything that could betray something to be amiss. Well, aside the lace covered matron of the Black Rose on her bed.
"Emilia... You, especially YOU, should know better than to come here so suddenly and without any form of warning beforehand..." Shauna's voice was very matter-of-fact, betraying little to no emotion.
It had been a very long time since she last returned home. The hunts kept her away longer and longer than before. Or they followed one another up after the other. Luckily for her, Shauna kept various bases and hideouts for similar occasions around the continent.
Lowering her shooting arm, she finally started to feel at ease and trusted the situation. More so, signaling this way that she was.
Putting her weaponry aside, she addressed the woman on her bed once again. "What brings you here, Emilia? You are a long way from Noxus. Surely this is not just a pleasure visit? How did you know I was returning this night any way?" Off course she could hazard a guess, knowing how the other woman kept eyes and ears just about everywhere that she pleased.
So, as it is very apparent my activity is as good as non-existent, I thought I at least owe some form of explanation: (under the cut)
My father has been ill. Extremely so, for the last five years.
He suffered a CVA (Cerebral Vascular Accident) five years ago, which left him as good as paralysed on the left side of his body. And he is a lefty, so that’s all his dominant side gone since then. And the type he had has like a 10-20% surviva rate, with an average of 5 years to live.
He couldn’t walk, drive, swim, do basic things any more. To say it did a number on him is an understatement of a lifetime.
Throughout the years he had physical therapy and many psych appointments. To the point he very slowly got some of his mobility back, by being able to walk with aids again.
We were becoming hopefuly that his quality of life was somewhy returning for him.
Then two months ago, he started having difficulties with eating, and started losing weight. His fatigue increased to the point he is sleeping most of the days, for 16-20 hours.
Last month, after numerous tests and scans and tissue samples, we received the news that he has malignant arsophagus cancer, with metastases throughout his body.
Treatment is no possible, with how weak his body has become.
And I was unaware of most of this in the beginning, since I rarely get to visit my parents with how hectic my life and work can get.
I’ve also noticed the toll it took on me now that I have been forced to come to terms with possibly losing my father within the near future. We can’t receive an estimate of the time he might have left. It could be days, weeks, months. Even a year or longer.
I’m more reclused than normal. Diving straight into work and private gaming. I barely sleep, and when I do, it’s very broken with me waking abruptly and frantically checking my phone if I missed any calls or messages.
My mom is breaking apart slowly, despite her attempt of hiding it from me and my siblings. My siblings are managing, with them having safety nets in the form of their partners and own children to be strong for.
I am very bad at keeping in touch with people. While at the same time already with a low social battery as it is. Well, that has been shot completely in recent weeks/months.
I don’t know how my activity here, or online on Discord will be. I might respond to messages, or might not. It really depends on how much energy I can muster for it really. Maybe I’ll be able to find some form of muse and motivation to write small bits here and there.
I’m sorry for anyone that I have kept waiting, without so much as an explanation until now.
//Off course this applies to here. Even though my Vayne muse has been more dead than my Vlad muse…

🙶 What about a little friendly competition, Dearest~? — Teeth, Claws, Weapons & Magic; all fair in-game mediums & tactics counting. 🙷 The Vampiress would give her a pleasant & confident simper; as gesturing towards the numerous targets spreading far beyond the grounds. 🙶 Whoever ends with more of them down; gets one wish granted from the other~ ♥ 🙷
The immortal huntress stood silently, her gaze going over the targets spread around. She had come to be more and more familiar with the makeshift course that was made here. She was confident it would hardly break a sweat out of her, were she still able to do that.
"A wish, hmmm? What is your ploy here, Emilia? You do not hold these challenges without an ulterior motive, or a certainty to you prevailing."
Icy blue eyes directed them towards the other vampiress. She wondered what trick she had up her sleeve. Aside the usual abilities their kin has, she knew Emilia to be versed in magics, but to what extend was a mystery.
The seemingly-innocent simper would not throw her off. In fact, it only amplified any suspicion that there was more at play than was known to her.
