Sadly mistaken

That if it were their own hand

Countless assailants

A daily repetition of forward motion

Working away in a town with no weather

But in the hearth of the home land’s it’s snowing

Pitch empty night and the white is furling

And I can forget the commotion

of thinking about that promotion

Wrapped in my childhood linen

Sitting in my family kitchen

This place smells like a past life

One I can no longer recognize

And sadness fills me with every breath

Because dad’s still bitching

Smoking a cig whenever he’s itching

And mother is still dictating

Every plan that I’m making

And the people’s problems become my own

One I must take a roll

Where neutrality is siding with the enemy

And I need to get back to the city

Back to my bed back to my worry

Where the walls smell of the life ahead of me

Away from the sunshine away from the snow

Although I scorn it

Three birds on a jagged coast

I drew a bath of milk and honey

In that murky water I saw the better half of me
