Finding beauty through a broken view.

I just finished watching the Elisa Lam series on Netflix... and I’m so heartbroken.. feel like I just been punched in the chest.. it’s so sad ! I really thought it was a conspiracy theory or something paranormal.. but the truth was much sadder.. which many of us, including myself were blinded due to our out worldly fascinations. Elisa Lam seemed to be such a spunky, adventurous, humorous, brilliant young adult who suffered from Bipolar I Disorder. And unfortunately that was her demise. So upset how the staff handled her situation (if you haven’t seen the series, I won’t spoil it, you gotta see it!) As many of you already know, mental illness is REAL and please do NOT ignore when someone is showing signs of mental illness no matter who it is.. I know it’s hard for many of us to reach out and help people who exhibit erratic behaviors but it could be between life or death, it is best to react like a hero instead of a coward in this situation. There were many mistakes in the case of Elisa Lam’s death and let’s not let her death be in vain, we have to help each other, be each other’s advocate and be there for the ones we know need help. I suffer from depression and have contemplated suicide but I’ve had visions of what damage it could do to my loved ones and that has saved me, but people who might have more severe cases of mental illness would not be able realize that because of the pain they are going through. So if you know or see anyone with symptoms of mental illness don’t leave them alone and do get proper help if needed for them. Also pouring yourself onto social media will help you through your illness, so share your story and don’t be afraid to show your true colors. I’ve been guilty of hiding my depression and acting as everything is okay.. but it’s hard many times and I just have to learn to live that’s it is not and have to realize and take steps to take me back to a state where I am content.
