History is so sanitized as it is. Do you want to lose the tragedy of the everyday person who had to live through a time being degraded every day of their life by whitewashing their experiences in our more "enlightened" age?

There are many different opinions out there on this topic; but for every dissenter there is a supporter-- no matter their skin-color, gender, or religion.

but he was a middle aged white dude writing a racial allegory about how if you love hard enough, you can essentially change races (become human... become white?). he maybe didn't mean it that way, idk, but that's sure as hell how it reads. either way it's a white savior narrative and in bad taste, even for 30 years ago.
