“Wait..” Elena firmly grasped Caroline’s arm. “Could you maybe stay awhile longer?” She wasn’t quite in the mood to be alone.

There was a small smile on her face as she crossed her arms. “I think you’re mixing me up with Moses.”

“Caroline, I don’t know if I can do this.”

“I was in love and I did a lot of stupid things because of it but you know, it changes you. You grow and you learn and you move on from it.”

“It doesn’t get easier, it never gets easier. You just live.”

“There’s nothing left to talk about, it’s over. I want to move on, Caroline.”

“And what would that be, a granola bar straight from the box?” She was teasing of course as her lips curled into a smile.

“Caroline, how can you say that? I trusted you.” Of all the people she hoped to take her seriously, it was Caroline but it seemed that wasn’t so.

“It wasn’t me, Care.”
