recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best.
It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.
"google ai" "spotify ai dj" "ai assistant" "enhanced by ai" what if i just start beating people over the head with a rock
my friend of three years mentioned using chatgpt at dinner, and when I expressed incredulity and horror, her genuine deadass response was "you're fighting a losing battle by refusing to use ai". I responded with "oh so I just embrace the evil???? confer with my palentir daily and just willingly let Sauron corrupt me until I don't even recognize myself anymore????" and she deadass went "yes". I am going to break something. Catch these hands motherfucker
2026 Adam/He-Man has officially stolen my heart and it’s wild that tumblr isn’t talking abt this guy. He’s a loser. He infodumps about his home planet on a first date and gets dumped immediately. He works in HR. He can’t drive. He gets mesmerized by his own abs. He’s convinced he can talk things out with the bad guys despite this never working once the entire film. He goes to the gym in a pink kitten sweater that says “alpha male.” He’s been arrested. He sneaks away to transform into he-man as if it’s a secret but literally everyone knows. He brought his earth roommate to eternia to prove he wasn’t crazy. He even killed Jared Leto. What a guy.

Just saw “Masters of the Universe” and oh my god. Travis Knight was the perfect choice to direct this film. It wasn’t too serious, but at the same time I was very invested emotionally. The fact that they didn’t shy away from the silliness but the characters were still so fleshed out, especially Duncan, Man at Arms (played by Sir Idris Elba). I absolutely adored his character arc. Camila Mendes (who I enjoyed watching on Riverdale) was fantastic in the role of Duncan’s daughter Teela. Their relationship and dialogue felt so genuine.
As for Jared Leto as Skeletor??? I actually found myself forgetting that was him under that hood.
Nicholas Galitzine in this role reminded me sooo much of the Disney animated version of Hercules (a character I’ve had a crush on since I was two years old). To see him retain his goofy and awkward personality as Adam and as He-Man, was an excellent choice. All around just charming as fuck. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a hero with a heart of gold.
On a sliiiiightly more thirsty note: this man got so jacked for this role, but in a way that still looked natural. My gawd. I thought he was beautiful before but DAYUM. My glasses actually fogged up. And I absolutely loved that Sailor Moon style transformation.
I may or may not go see it again next week.
And in the meantime I will be seeking out some “x reader” fanfiction both on Tumblr and AO3. 😜

go watch Masters of the Universe PLEASE oh my god. You don't need to have previous experience with He-Man to watch it. I didn't and I loved it. Whoever's talking shit about it online is a liar. It's funny. The action sequences are BADASS. Adam is hot as fuck. Like that man is thicker than Chris Hemsworth's Thor. He could crush your skull like a watermelon with his biceps OR his thighs. Oh my god his thighs. The skirt and loincloth. The dramatic blonde curtain bangs. The midriff showing off the thickass six-pack. Nicholas Galitzine is a BRICKSHIT HOUSE. not to mention Jared Leto finally found the one role he's good at. His voice acting is dramatic and theatrical and goofy AND intimidating and menacing and powerful. All the side characters were great. The costumes were awesome. The VFX looked beautiful. Adam was beautiful. The amount of pathetic whumpy sounds he made had my fanfic writer heart POUNDING. they made him a cringefail wet cat himbo and every second was glorious. He got to mow through a crowd of npcs like a shounen protagonist. He beat the shit out of Skeletor with his bare fists.
It's not the end-all be-all of films, and that's okay because it wasn't meant to be in the first place. It's silly and goofy and hype af. It's a lighthearted good time with some genuinely good moral reflection sprinkled in. If nothing else please just watch it for the sexual crisis He-Man himself will give you
(within the end credits there are multiple extra scenes that pay homage to the og so stick around!)
go see heman right now oh my GOD this is the best nostalgic media adaptation i have ever seen hands down
Istg if He-Man doesn't get a sequal because of the stupid box office I'll be so sad. Like i'm so scared it's going to end up like Rise of the Guardians where it's a really fun and inspired movie and it just never gets brought back.
Like I'm usually not a fan of endless reboots and sequals but it was just so good and I was happy that they brought back an IP from the 80s that hasn't had the hell beaten out of it yet.

He Man Masters of the Universe is the definition of absolute cinema. I was smiling the whole time, I sang along to the soundtrack, and laughed out loud many times. I loved how they translated the dialogue into live action and how cheesy it was
The movie is cool, it's funny, the action scenes are so cartoonish. The movie embraced the cringe. I was expecting it to be tolerable, but it was an amazing experience
And my god, Nicholas Galitzine …
