Current WIPs: I Am A Retired Hero And My Love Interest Is A Former Crime Lord?!- Jason/Danny. Danny is attending college in Gotham and is attempting to put the whole ghost-fighting thing on the back-end. However, ghost artifacts are going missing and his former enemies are coming to him for help finding them! Why are these ghost artifacts being targeted? As he gets deeper into the mystery, the local vigilantes start getting involved too. Also, Danny keeps getting fed by the Red Hood after a rather eventful first meeting. Night Circus- Dick/Danny. A string of bank burglaries leaves Gotham stumped. Money and valuables are going missing overnight. Cameras show nothing: One moment, a vault will be filled with money, and in the next, vanished as if it’s never been there. It’s as if they’re being robbed by ghosts, with nary a clue in sight, except for a few strands of white hair left behind at the latest crime scene.

Still on that time travel fix-it trope with Jason being the one sent back. He wakes up as a child again, maybe a week after he's caught stealing the tires of the batmobile. Still not adopted, but he's very aware that Bruce is keeping an eye on him. Jason isn't about to repeat history and let Batman adopt him again (maybe they were getting better back when he was an adult, but he also has a lot of regrets and wants a break from vigilante life. After everything he's been through, he's owed that, right? So this time around, maybe he shouldn't become a Wayne). But Bruce (both as Batman and as himself) keep trying to talk to him. Jason manages to escape every time, but Bruce is a clever man and will find a way if Jason doesn't take care of this now.

At a time where Batman is busy with a rogue or somewhere he can't keep an eye on Jason, Jason takes the opportunity and goes to New York/Bludhaven wherever Dick is living. Because he remembers how angry Dick was at Bruce then. If anyone would help Jason stay out of Bruce's grasp, it would be him.

Dick answers the door to this little kid wearing worn out street clothes glaring up at him. Dick, immediately on the defense, glares back. They do this for several minutes because they're both stubborn like that. Then...

"You need to stop him."

"Stop who?" Dick asks, because maybe this kid is in trouble and needs help?

"Batman," Jason says like it's obvious. Before Dick can deny/deflect/shut the door in his face, he continues: "He keeps trying to kidnap me and make me Robin."

Dick's mind blanks out as pure, unfiltered rage courses through him. Because now he doesn't care about what exactly this kid knows about him or Batman. How dare Bruce try and replace him?!

"The fuck he isn't," Dick snaps, and Jason smiles in relief. Because Dick will stop this madness.

He refuses to lmao. Which is a bad idea because he's basically letting the public name him if he ever gets recognized as a 'new' hero (did he learn his lesson from Inviso-Bill? Nope). At least the bats didn't come up with anything terrible yet!

Okay, the plan is to focus on Retired Hero until it's done (the outline shows that it's really close to the original planned ending) but I don't want to update the fic until I have at least a few chapters done (or even until it's finished). I think after this and the other WIPs I already have up I won't be posting longfics until they're finished because who knows when the times decide things must be interesting.

Tim sighed as he clicked out of another website. ‘Superman’ didn’t reveal anything more than weightlifting records of various athletes. Batman gave him old National Enquirer articles about half human, half animal hybrids being bred by the US military. Aquaman was a pre-wrestler. Wonder Woman, a lingerie company (Maddie yelled at him about that.). The Justice League didn’t exist. No other heroes existed either, which was terrifying. Who was going to protect the Earth in the next alien invasion? What happened when children were about to get run over by speeding trains without Superman there to stop the train in its tracks? How would New Jersey survive without Batman there to keep the weird owl cultists at bay? Who was going to rescue him from this weird reality?

I don't know who needs to hear this, but the idea that you can make a little mistake while doing your taxes and then go to jail for it is mostly not a thing. If you make a mistake on your taxes you'll get a letter in the mail that says 'hey you made a mistake on your taxes' and then you can fix it (source: I have made mistakes on my taxes, international tax treaties are complicated). The only time people typically go to jail for tax stuff is if they commit massive intentional (or negligent, like if they run a business and never consult any expert on how payroll taxes work) fraud over a long period of time.

There's basically no way for a person new to doing taxes - and presumably not handling a lot of money - to accidentally fuck up those taxes in a way that's going to end with that person in jail.

also the IRS will definitely send you a letter in the mail, they will not call or email you and try to get you to pay them right away

usually what happens is you have to file some more forms to correct your mistake and if you owe them more money they'll send you a bill

anyone who calls or emails you and says they're from the IRS and you owe five hundred dollars that you have to pay right now or you'll go to jail is a scammer

My Version of 'Tim Coming Back From His Quest to Rescue Bruce From the Time Stream':

Tim- Hey, Dick, can we talk? Dick- Okay! Tim- So, after being away for a while, I thought about it and understand why Damian had to become Robin. Dick- (beaming) That's great! Tim- I still don't appreciate coming down to the Batcave and seeing Damian's dumb face in my suit. I didn't need that jumpscare, Dick. Damian- Hey. Dick- Uh Tim- And I also didn't appreciate that one split second where I actually felt empathy and understanding for Jason when he found out I replaced him. That sucked, I don't want to be in his head ever again. Jason- (in the background, shrugging) Fair. Dick- I'm... sorry for jumpscaring you with Damian and making you understand Jason's point of view? Tim- Thanks. I'll trade you my forgiveness for a year's worth of no questions asked favors. Dick- That's kind of a lot, isn't it? Tim- Yeah, well, people my age who go traveling around the world usually do it after graduating high school to find themselves. Instead, I dropped out, temporarily joined an assassin cult and then systematically blew up their bases while proving that our dead father figure wasn't actually dead. Jason- Man, don't you hate it when that happens? Damian- But did you find yourself? Dick- You two are not helping!

Dick manages to negotiate with a 'favor' coupon book with like 50 favors. He proceeds to switch the one Tim made with one he made for Bruce when he was 12, which consisted mostly of "free hugs" and "no hanging from chandeliers for a whole week" (Bruce mostly used up the chandelier ones though)
