Little star- so far away,
Except you’re really not small
at all, now are you?
A massive ball of energy-
Blazing and burning-
Giving light- sparking hope,
Demanding to be acknowledged,
Sending afterimages-
Into the universe,
long after you retire.
Though so far away, and
Perhaps all alone-
In this massive universe-
You are gazed upon and
Thought of as a friend,
An upmost confidant-
Worthy enough to hold
Wishes that make up souls.
You ignite inspiration-
Dozens of stories-
Plays poems and songs-
All in dedication to you.
So loved and desired-
People tattoo you
on their very skin.
As they look at at you
In the sky, their eyes-
Reflect back everything
You, yourself, have sown
Into the universe eons ago.
So, not so little star,
Though far away in distance,
You’ve threaded your way to our eyes,
To our hearts, tying our connection
with an incandescent bow.
