can you imagine miles getting a phone for his parents, and then teaching them how to sign in, how to answer calls, how to dial numbers, and jesse downloads some apps for them and sets a picture of himself in australia as the lock screen and then snaps a picture of miles for the home screen (it’s all blurry and golden in the morning light) and then miles enters both his and jesse’s numbers into the phone and jesse writes them in big numbers on a notepad on the kitchen table and then the boys leave. and before the house is even out of sight, miles’ phone rings. and he picks up and is like, yeah, you did it! i hear you mom, do you hear me? alright, i love you. bye. and he and jesse are smiling, genuinely smiling. and then immediately jesse’s phone rings, and for years after, hardly a day goes by that they don’t talk??
