A prosthetic limb has SIGNIFICANT difficulties and pain attached, and many folks with limb differences STILL use a wheelchair regularly or as their primary means of mobilisation. Prostheses and wheelchairs are tools that allow disabled people to mobilise. Someone with a limb difference may use different tools according to their varying needs day by day' vs 'some fans seem to slap a prosthetic leg on Gai because they don't want to deal with him being a wheelchair user and that's Bad, Actually' vs etc. etc. etc.

Come to think about it. Tenzo has obviously been spliced with Hashirama’s genes. Obito is partially Hashirama cells. It’s a fairly common headcanon that Iruka is related to Hashirama somehow because of their resemblance. Is there any connection we can make between Gai and Hashirama.
