She has always been the quiet he could deal with. Clyde, for the most part, consisted his daily life with noise. Whether it be from his phone, the television, the radio, or background phenomenon. With Wendy? Her presence was enough. It has always been like that, strangely, but it was the kind of silent comfort Clyde was completely okay with. So imagine having her not around when he was just getting used to it — imbalance.
An easy smile flickered across his features upon her answer. “Okay.” He nodded once, finding that minimal words exchanged between the two could be enough, just as much as a full-on conversation. He leaned back, glancing outside and hummed. “Walk with me? What have you been up to while off and away, hm?” The words were light — no expectations. Just curiosity.
She often craved for the quiet, the peace. Her sisters had too much energy. It quickly wore her out. Maybe she was easily exhausted. Her lack of sleep and lack of endurance didn't help. She was too stubborn to admit to it, though. Clyde didn't mind her almost selective mutism. One of the many things she appreciated about him. He didn't demand answers, yet he was always there. Whenever she needed him.
Wendy returned the smile softly. She nodded in response to his first question, then paused. The past few weeks had all been a blur. She remembered a few rainstorms. Deluges, almost. The strongest storms she had conjured up, accidentally, in ages. Most days, she spent aimlessly wandering. She had had no destination, no plans. She hadn't wanted to think, so she kept walking. She had taken some previously unread books with her.
"Reading, walking"
"Lately I've been losing sleep."
"Atom, are you okay?" Wendy prompted. She wasn't as close to him, as her sisters were. Truthfully, she still was rather shy around him. As she was with most people. But such a statement from him seemed odd. She didn't think she could help, at least not much. Yet, she had to try to do something. Anything. She'd wait for him to answer before she really spoke more. Her mind reeled for ideas, as she waited, attempting to recall things she has read.
"Lately I've been losing sleep."
Wendy wasn't the best with sleep. She rarely had bare minimum. Nights were far too quiet, her thoughts were too loud. She'd spend her nights curled up with a book, or floating in her pool. Sometimes both. And by the time she'd pass out, morning had dawned. And with it, the loudness of her sisters. She averaged three hours a night. Five, if she was lucky. Over time she had adjusted to it. Was it healthy living? Probably not, but suited her lifestyle. She tilted her head slightly, studying the male. "Have you, uhm... tried warm tea?" she suggested. That's what her sisters would try with her, if they caught her awake.

"It doesn't mean a thing."
She frowned at her eldest sister. Why did things always have to turn out this way? Wendy was exhausted. Exhausted from fighting, from running, from drowning. She was drowning in her own waters. She had been treading for far too long. Then sinking, and then even further than that. Her eyes slid shut. Her grasp on her book tightened. Raindrops slowly struck the window behind her. "irene, please," she mumbled, just barely audible. She couldn't take this much longer. The storm was churning, inside and out. How long until she couldn't hold it back?

"Everything that kills me makes me feel alive."
"If I lose myself tonight..."

"Like the sand misses the waves." He paused, before a chuckle passed his lips. "Or something cheesy like that." His grey eyes showed worry, evidently so, but he kept his questions at bay. She must have been away for a reason, and for whatever it was, Wendy was safe. Safe as she can be, he hoped. A hand raised, and lightly, he ruffled her hair. “.. Are you going to disappear on me again?”
She snorted softly at the older male. How long had she been gone? She wasn't quite sure, if she was being honest. Time seemed to be much longer than she thought it was. Or was it shorter? She had stopped keeping track after the first week. It didn't seem to matter. She'd find her way home, eventually. She always did. She scrunched her nose as he ruffled her hair. She ran a hand through it, to make it lay flat. "I...don't plan to," she admitted. She couldn't quite promise something she knew she couldn't stop.

no no no (︺︹︺)
"But you’re not." Was his instant reply, as if he knew that was going to be her threat against him. The more time they were spending together, the easier it was for him to figure out her intentions, although for now he made no move. He was going to let her unleash herself and test exactly how much further until he’d step up. Underestimating, that was exactly what he was doing, not considering for a single second that the situation might not turn in his favor. Baekhyun — he had always been a little too self confident with his strength and strategies, and that was mainly because he made sure to surround himself with people that weren’t on the same level as he was.
The water restricts him and pulls his hand backwards enough to be able to let go, but he’s stubborn — so stubborn that he latches until blunt nails dig in the flesh, so both ends would eventually go through different types of suffering. “Is this all you can do?” He questions, fingers of his free hand reaching in his pocket, movements quick and blurry, until the tip of his blade poked under her chin with a narrow of his eyes. “Pity, I don’t want our fun to be over just yet.”
If she would let go of her sanity, she could easily overpower him. She could have gotten away, before this had started. But she is not like him. She doesn't gain satisfaction from hurting others. The only instance she would ever intentionally hurt someone was to protect her sisters and brother. She never really needed to, otherwise. For once in her life, she wished that she had listened to her father a bit more. Or at least had stuck to her training. Her mind was attempting to work another escape route, until his nails dug into her skin. She cringed, her teeth sunk instantly into her lip. She didn't know the extent of her pain tolerance. She had bruised herself and accidentally received paper cuts as a kid, that was natural though.
Wendy almost doesn't register the movement, until the blade is pressed lightly to her. She shuddered. He was out of his mind. He had to be. This wasn't fun. She knew she wasn't the most exciting person when it came to fun. But this was psychotic, not enjoyment. She may have preferred books to what her sisters did, but she knew this was out of proportion. She exhaled slowly. She moved her free hand carefully, the water around his wrist ended up his arm, covering. She clamped her fingers shut, the pressure increasing steadily. She decided not to answer him, not to give him the satisfaction of her words.

For all he cared, he couldn’t even remember how they ended in this position to begin with; maybe he was a bit too provocative with words, maybe he spoke too much once again ( he was famous for that ) , maybe he just — wanted this. Wanted to cause her despair to the point of breaking, to the point where the was nothing else to do but fight against it. You do have to face your fears at some point, right? Baekhyun is more than glad to help her get over it, getting a benefit out of this, her bleak expression is what kept him going, knowing he hadn’t pushed the last button yet. With determination he was going to follow each step, until she’d eventually crumble between his fingers and all he’ll do? Laugh, laugh and chant childish words of ‘I told you’ and ‘Oh, poor sheep!’ for now though, he’l observe with haw eyes and expect the chaos to unleash before him. Just a little longer.
"Can you?" He echoes in pure mock, smirk never faltering; defying, that’s exactly what he wanted to do. "All I can see is a mouse struggling out of a cat’s paws." Retorting intelligently, his eyebrows lift once. He wanted to see power! He wanted to see that she was not afraid to stand up for himself, and if not — he might as well end up being disappointed by the turn of events.
"I could drown you," she states, not even really paying attention to what she saying. She wasn't a mouse. She was a storm. She was an ocean. Her control was slipping. Fear was a motivation. One she didn't particularly want. One she still had to learn how to control. Her emotions were a range of things, as were her powers. They were closely linked. Almost too close, in her opinion. Her powers increased with her emotions. Her fingers flexed once more. This wasn't going to end easily for either of them. Her attention was no longer on him but her hand. His taunts still lingered in the back of her mind. Wendy shuddered again before letting instinct take over.
She raised her hand, water instantly flowed with the motion before she turned back towards him. She forced the water around his wrist. "I said let go," she snarled. She felt detached from herself. This was almost like that night. She wasn't quite over the edge. She still had some sanity. She could still get out of this without too much trouble, without killing him. She had to. She just had to get free. Then she'd never see him again. She'd act like this had never happened. No one needed to know about this.
