I am trying to see if this gets as many or more votes than the last one so PLEASE I'm begging you reblog.
I’m noticing an increase in new fic writers on AO3 who…uh…mayy not know how to format their fics correctly..so here is a quick and VERY important tip
Using a random fic of mine as example..
The left example: ✅✅✅
The right example: ❌❌❌
Idk how many times I’ve read a good fic summary and been so excited to read before clicking on it and being met with an ugly wall of text. When I see a huge text brick with zero full line breaks my eyes blur and I just siiiigh bc either I click out immediately or I grin and bear it…it’s insufferable!
If a new character speaks, you need a line break. If you notice a paragraph is becoming too large, go ahead and make a line break and/or maybe reconfigure the paragraph to flow better. I’m not a pro writer or even a huge fic writer but…please…ty…
This is a good thing to keep in mind! It is often and unfortunate that a really good fic doesn’t get love because its formatting makes it too difficult to read!
I brought up formatting to a writer once and they were like "That's just how I do it." and I was like "cool. I wont be reading your shit then. It gives me a MONSTER headache but I aint gonna tell you how to live bro."
we cant make other people change their formatting. but we can choose what formatting we will and will not read with. <3 love me some accessible spacing uwu
Same goes for capitalization! If there is not a single capital letter to be found, I won't be reading it 😅 I'm probably missing out on a lot of good work, but it is what it is
we havent spoken in ages,,,,,,,,,,
bro if you want to talk literally just send me a message somewhere damn 😭

If you had to pick, what's the ONE trait in a fictional character that makes you immediately go "oh this one's mine"
As long as we're talking about weird sibling texts y'all gotta see this completely unprompted banger my sister sent me the other day.
She didn't even tell me where she got it.
SEVEN AND A HALF FUCKING DOLLARS??????
loo lbr thats just how groceries are these days
I fucking hate inflation we can't even have canned tuna in this hell world!!!
So I looked up reviews of this specific tuna and I have several things to report:
1) Apparently it really is just that fucking good.
2) There's an artisan version they sell made with tuna belly which is reportedly phenomenal and despite the $21 price tag I genuinely want to try it.
3) The youtubers who review canned fish are simultaneously the weirdest and most boring people who have ever lived and I'm completely obsessed with them.
Pfft, don't threaten me with a good time.
Fuck it, 10k notes and I buy the $7 tuna and try it on stream. 50k and I'll get the expensive stuff too. Have fun <3
986 notes we can do this! OP deserves good tuna
OP I don't know you and I don't even like seafood but I need you to treat yourself to the bougie tuna.
Oddly I don’t see a single occupation listed besides the last where they’ll murder you just because they’re having a bad day and automatically get away with it.
I have only love for the USPS.
reminder that cops have also been logging covid deaths (after refusing to comply with masking orders nationwide) as on-duty fatalities, as well as everything from heart attacks to car crashes to friendly fire. a really significant amount of cop deaths aren't actually due to Criminal Violence, but it's significant that the cops act as though *all* of them are.
cooking show but the judge is just a random kid with autism related food issues. no one can figure out what criteria they use to judge "good food" from "bad food" least of all the judge themself.
starts off as a cooking show and devolves into a heartfelt comedy of errors as all these professional top chefs use their decades of training & skill to try to help this one kid eat a balanced diet
by the end of the season the chefs have combined their knowledge to more-or-less figure out how to consistently make food that the judge is willing to eat. at which point we start over with a whole new season and a new judge with all new food issues!
spin-off series where there is an entire panel of judges consisting specifically of one large family whose members have multiple dietary restrictions. the contestants must planning a week's worth of dinners that account for everyone's needs, using commonly available ingredients on a normal household budget. they are not allowed to repeat meals
Now THIS is a cooking show i would watch!
I. I want this. This is a fucking insanely good idea.

I first read “if you were lazy you would be having fun” on your blog and it has genuinely been a life-changing piece of advice for me and my friends - I’ve said it to like four of my other executive dysfunction judies and without fail it earns a ten second silence followed by a single revelatory “fuck”
My dad and I actually ran into the speech language pathologist who told me that over 20 years ago at a town hall a few months back—she is retired now, but still advocating for disabled students at IEP meetings and being a nuisance to school administrators. I thanked her for everything, and she was delighted to hear that I was passing her words along to other people who needed to hear them!
w. wait fuck. this is the first time I've heard this. hold on I need to sit down. I need a second. this shatters my worldview just a little bit h. hold on
"if you were lazy you'd be having fun"
huh.

what's the most common unwarranted comment you hear about your career/future career?
something about how it doesn't pay well
something about how it requires a lot of training/school
something about automation or AI taking the field over
something about how it's a "popularity contest"
something about the field being overcrowded already
something about you "fitting a stereotype"
something about how you'd be so good at X and you should do that instead
something about that job requiring a lot of [trait] implying you don't have it
something about how they know someone with that job who hates it
something about you'll "never be home :(" or "never relax"
something about the job being really hard or easy
something else (feel free to share in the notes and rant if you want)
Inspired by everyone I know seeming to have an opinion about my career choice
I work on an assembly line in a "socialized work" (?) organization of sorts. They create jobs for the disabled and you need to go through a bit if a process to get to work there.
Whenever I mention I work on an assembly line, most people that somewhat know me are often like "but you're so smart! why didn't you just go to college?" Some people that I don't know too well ask me if I'm not bored, or if I wouldn't be happier with something else. Then I start about my disability and the reasons why I went there in the first place, they say it's "probably not that bad" and that I just don't want to do more with my life, or apply myself. Sometimes people tell me I must've exaggerated everything during the interview and that I just want to be lazy. No, I just want to have a life. It would've been easier to live on financial aid alone, but I refuse to rot in my room forever. I suffer financially because I want to work. Having this job prevents me from making a full wage, ironically. But I don't want to give it up.
And most other neurodivergent people I talk to are excited for me, say that they're jealous that I get to sort things, click small components together or put things in boxes all day. They sometimes ask me to help them start the process.

The thing with the Unity fiasco is yes it's a horrible move towards indie and smaller devs but sfaict they're also trying it on with the big boys so like. The company probably won't exist this time next year
I just don't think walking up to Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, EA, et al and saying "we are going to attempt to retroactively and unilaterally alter our signed contract with you in a way that probably violates contract law and means you each individually owe us billions of dollars" is a business strategy that works for anyone except some extremely expensive lawyers
Adhd will have you too burnt out to eat or shower but give you the hubris to decide you can homebrew an entire d&d system on the back of a receipt
