Nanoka was her friend, her good friend, and after going through that whole ordeal, Chie wasn't at all in a place (mentally, or physically probably) to maintain that sort of relationship with anyone - it was demanding, at least, Chie thought it was demanding.

But, she loves her. And she hopes Chiemi does too - I mean, she wants nothing more for than Chiemi to be happy, because she deserves it. She deserves it after being through that, after being with Chie at all, and after suffering through something that took a serious toll on her physically and emotionally.

She would probably not be thrilled to see that Chiemi moved on that quickly. Seeing her with Fuyuuko, she would honestly probably think that she was an idiot for falling for her in the first place, and that Chiemi was putting her talent in the spotlight - she didn't love Chie, she never loved Chie. She's an actress. Acting is her thing.

In the same respect, Riko would be the person Chie would go to when she just wanted to decompress for a second, because in her experiences with Riko, Riko would be the person best suited - I mean, Riko and Chie's relationship spawned from reading books together. Chie tutored her in English - and, in all, their relationship is pretty low maintenance.

Riko would best understand how books would help you unwind, decompress, etc. So, her first stop would be to the library, and usually, to Riko.

Not to mention, Riko's personality in the first place would probably give Chie a sense of solace. Well. Solace is probably not the correct word here but Riko would probably calm her down just in presence based upon the fat that Chie associates Riko with books.

I don't really know how to explain this, so I'm going to hope I get it right here. At least. How I'm thinking of it, because she sees him as a friend. As a friend who, when things got tough, she could go to for guidance. Or someone to bail her out. Or give her an idea.

It's because he reminds her of a mix of her parents? She isn't really sure what quality he has that he shares with her parents, but she feels at ease with him. She didn't have to suspect anything of him, and he helped her out.

I guess she feels like he's somehow important, or is going to become important? And isn't a threat to her. And for those reasons, if she needed to, she could confide in him.

And! Predespair! Dub club!!!

And, yes, everyone looks in on it in the form of "Why are these Japanese high schoolers dubbing over All Of NGE in Latin," but at the same time everyone appreciates it because it's just that. A Latin Dub of NGE.

Chie didn’t even get a chance to realize that his waiter facade was actually a facade??? She never realized he pretended to be a waiter, honestly. Her first reaction would have been during the “WELL MAYBE, MAYBE THIS IS BECAUSE I’M NOT A WAITER,” part of the game. I don’t remember when that was. But I know it happened.

Had they ever actually spoken, I think Chie would have taken to him kind of… Peculiarly. I mean, hey, fellow American, I like baseball and this Japan thing is??? But there’s something a little weird about you.

Gorou would probably be the only person Chie would ever say “Punch me in the face. Please.” to. And, assuming he would have gone about the importance of self defense at some point, it would be her first interaction at all EVER with that sort of thing.

Chie to Gorou, Chie to Gorou…

It’s fun to think about, actually. I mean, they’re different, they’re really different, but having a giant secret in your past is something in common.

Granted, Gorou’s was one of occupation and Chie’s involved something entirely different but… Chie and Gorou friendship? I can see it going somewhere.

From the start, she looked up to Saori pretty much from the perspective of a foreigner - “whoa, a geisha? how exotic, how elegant, how graceful.” She didn’t know the extent of who exactly Saori was other than the fact she was a basically a paragon of Japanese culture, a paragon of something Chie had no real experience with. And for that reason, she viewed Saori as something almost… envious? She was everything Chie wished she could have been, the experience, the knowledge of culture, the ability to read, but it wasn’t ever a malicious sort of envy.

It’s like that friend you have, you find out they’re from a foreign country and you can’t stop asking them what it’s like in their country, and you think they’re SOOO COOOOL, and you kind of wish you could do all the things they could. That’s exactly how Chie feels about Saori.

Like, before the game started, or after it started but not that long into it, they were gonna hug. I wanted them to hug and I still want them to hug but I also want Saori to punch Chie in the face!!!

When she killed Kaoru, she kind of realized that in doing this, she’s effectively reducing her chances of ever being “”“friends”“” with Saori to 0%. I mean, she was not focused on Covering Up Her Big Secret at the time, but after the fact…
