Ataxophobia || Ava || Trial 2 || re: ripley
For a majority of the trial, Ava has been half-cowering behind her podium. She hadnāt been particularly helpful, and the insults flying didnāt exactly help her jump in to try and say anything either. Itās not until after Ripley is finished speaking and many others have started to cast their votes that she finally gets up the courage to speak.
āYouāveāā¦.Th-Thatāsā¦wrongā¦!ā
Itās far from a shout, but her voice is a little louder than her usual. Looks like Ripley might have struck a nerve.
āYou talkā¦about chaosā¦but thereāsā¦much more to itā¦than thatā¦We donāt existā¦in chaosā¦n-not reallyā¦Things canā¦look likeā¦they happen forā¦no reasonā¦or outā¦of nowhereā¦b-but thatās notā¦true at allā¦There is orderā¦you justā¦arenāt lookingā¦Thatās not chaosā¦thatās predictabilityā¦ā
Ava took in a deep breath, trying to make herself keep talking.Ā
āYou killedā¦Yamamoto-sanā¦over a⦠25% chanceā¦of losing yourā¦own lifeā¦and by doing thatā¦increased that chanceā¦by a significant amountā¦A bare minimumā¦of 50%ā¦considering theā¦evidence youā¦left behindā¦You knewā¦that a trialā¦would resultā¦in a deathā¦and that it couldā¦be your ownā¦Why knowingly gamble twiceā¦for worse oddsā¦? And youā¦only made thingsā¦worse byā¦n-not defending yourselfā¦well at allā¦ā
She shifts anxiously at her podium. Sheād know a thing or two about defending herself in a trial after all. A few tears bead up in the corners of her eyes.
āHuman lifeā¦is preciousā¦and the fact thatā¦peopleā¦were willing toā¦risk their livesā¦to protect othersā¦and t-to not break downā¦in the face ofā¦what Ouji-sanā¦was forcing on usā¦thatās what makesā¦what weāve both doneā¦so terribleā¦If you canātā¦see thatā¦ā¦ā
She shakes her head, trailing off into silence. Eventually she mumbles the last of her thought aloud to herself as she pushes a button down.
āThen I wonder ifā¦youāre even worseā¦than meā¦ā
