As a child I remember going to Juneteenth celebrations in Independence Park. I didn't know the full reason behind Juneteenth but I was always excited because I knew I would get some good food, hear amazing music and be surrounded by beautiful Black people. As an adult I understand the importance of Juneteenth. The resilience, the pride, the joy and the culture we as Black people have. I'm not interested in the gentrification and capitalization of OUR holiday. We been celebrating our greatness. Enjoy today. Celebrate today. Spread that joy today. Birthdays were always a big thing for me growing up. My mother made sure we knew how special we were daily BUT on your birthday oooohhhh it's on and poppin. She would ask what you wanted for your birthday months in advance. If a party was happening she was a top notch host. To this day I love my birthday. It's a holiday just for me! Fun fact: I love colors!! I'm a colorful person in all aspects of my life. Black, grey and white is cool BUT you give me something bright with tons of colors and I'm happy. It's a real one's birthday week! I thought it'd be cute to share some pictures from my childhood and give some fun facts I was born in a blizzard in Philly in 89' To this day I love snow. Queen 👑 My Marble Queen Pothos; I love her, she's probably one of my easiest no fuss plants. Each leaf has its own special pattern whether its white, green or a combination.
