some notes:

stuff i took into consideration: vibes mostly. also profession, personality, personal history, game powers/abilities, and sometimes their similarities to existing pokemon trainer classes

team size and "manageability" (i.e. how many full evos/high maintenance, powerful battle mons) is based on age and lifestyle. for example, ernest would probably find it hard to take care of a lot of powerful pokemon as a roadie!

xaria and monty are always fought as a duo and share a team of six, but xaria prefers the top row while monty prefers the bottom

all the astronomers have a minior of their associated color

speaking of the astronomers, aster's was probably the easiest and most fun to put together. there's a lot of fun space and rock themed pokemon with obscured faces that would fit on a professor's team. and also the baku.

realistically i don't think papineau would purposefully keep a snorlax but i do think he might have shared his lunch with a munchlax on the street until it got attached to him and now he is lugging around this large sonofabitch that he halfheartedly berates for getting so lazy

also, his electivire probably belonged to a former maintenance guy coworker

dan's not here but i think he would have a morpeko and also a sylveon that he shiny hunted for months on end and is his pride and joy. either that or he's a genwunner (no idea how that works in the pokeverse)
