There's a continuous battle being fought at the animal shelter I volunteer at between the medical staff and the non-medical staff over whether or not we are allowed to name animals after their unfortunate medical conditions
The clinic staff is very pro naming animals after their medical conditions. For example, we named a cat who fell asleep in a car engine and got really badly burned Singe (Singe is fine and eventually went back to his original family once they realized we had him, so it's okay to laugh at him)
The Non-medical staff tried to rename him Dale
But that's no fun. So we've got to be sneaky.
For example, we named a cat who came in with a collar that was too tight and was choking him Ichabod because it's related to the headless horseman
We had a kitten come in with a horribly infected tail that had to be amputated. It even had maggots in it so we named her Margot because it's one letter off from maggot
We also had two nearly identical cats come in with identical wounds on their face but on the opposite sides. So we named one of them Oscar and the other one Racso. Unfortunately, Racso did turn out to be the evil twin
