The Adam that Lute is hallucinating is literally still a major jerk to her. Oftentimes when this "character A hallucinates dead character B" trope happens, character Bs personality becomes more idealized. But Adam is rude to her STILL. Lute saw him for who he is and even in her hallucinations, the most ideal Adam for her is the one she knew.
