fundamentally capitalism has no ability to handle infinitely reproducible data. while, say, the drawing of a piece of digital art took labor, it can be perfectly copied for negligible effort as many times as desired. thus the value created by the labor is divided into infinitely small portions, which would make an art seller's income tend towards zero. capitalism handles this by artificially enforcing scarcity in the form of intellectual property and copyright legislation, but it's an inherently flawed and exploitative relationship, and its justification completely breaks down when in practice the owners of the IP are scarcely the original artist whose labor was expended to produce it. as digital artists are proletarianized, art production and sale falls into the same capitalist model as any other: the bourgeoisie buys labor-power, the ability for the laborer to work, and turns it into value that can be cashed in at the market. a desire to make the artist both laborer and seller is however reactionary, a desire to become a petit bourgeois small business owner within a capitalist market, which fundamentally does not change the capitalist relations that created that problem to begin with and which will do so again. communism requires something which in the immediate is scary to anyone in or aspiring to a bourgeois class position, be it petit or haute, but ultimately will be to the interest of those proletarianized: the abolition of private property and collectivization of the economy, through an arduous process of revolution and building up of a socialist state and economy governed by the proletariat as a class. this does not mean socialism has no sympathy for classes in danger of proletarianization, after all historically the revolutionary proletariat has allied with and supported the interests of the peasantry, but ultimately the interests of the former are the ones that govern the long term development of a socialist society
