Shopping for ennui

I was thinking about the final scene in the Paper Bag video where she walks away with the small suitcase - what could be INSIDE??

The obvious answer would be that she packed all her clothes and stuff to leave town, but that’s a pretty small suitcase and also it would be a bit literal.

This is Fiona Apple - it has to be something more complicated and impractical.

But what could it beee? now that I’ve thought about it I have to know, what is insiiide?

Heres a few possibilities I thought of:

The 77 cassette tapes.

Some pressed flowers and a book of poetry.

A glass terrarium filled with a careful selection of grasses and moss balls and a pair of giant African snails.

The steering wheel from a 1947 Chevrolet Fleetline.

A red helium-filled balloon.

The master tape for her next album.

A small dog.

Carrots, lots of carrots.

A piano.
