"The Key to the highest and divine philosophy of the mysterious powers of nature is reason. The brighter the sun of reason shines, the more powerful will the intellect grow, and the easier will it become for us to accomplish even the most wonderful things. But if the intellect is in the bonds of flesh, if it cannot overcome the errors received by inheritance and false education, it will be unable to penetrate into the divine mysteries of nature and God."
— Cornelius Agrippa

Redemption is about bringing things into conscious awareness. From that you can receive the learning it offers you and, in that, uncover greater parts of yourself. Look at the history of the human experience as an experience of coming into a place of awareness and consciousness that allows you to see and experience reality in a conscious way. That then allows you to use that reality to discover and to grow and become more of the potential that you are. Challenges reveal your potential. They reveal those places where potential is blocked or thwarted or unconscious. In what you call the negative experience or the frustration of the challenge lies the redemption because in it lies the answer to what you're looking for. Behind every negative experience is redemption, revelation, and inspiration.

go in to find the way out. go out to find what is inside. practice, going in and out of your life in order to weave your robe of shadow and light.
About three months ago, I asked myself where is my joy?
And I thought back to a time when there was an element of surprise and joy.
Pokémon.
There's nothing like buying a couple packs of and the excitement that follows when opening them. Or searching for the ones you like.
These are some of my favorite in my collection. I don't play the game, not yet anyway. I am in it for the nostalgia and art.
It has been good medicine for my heart to reconnect with my joy and inner child.

oh shame, my ol friend, you are a fire burning in the dark night of the soul—calling me to see my glory.
world's ending again.
darkness, once again is coming to light. a flood of shadows everywhere. don't let your light be snuffed out by this smog. pierce through the veil of deceit with your inner flame. the truth was made a slave also. restrained. stripped of any semblance of life and forced to obey a narrative that controls and instills sterile fear toward a dead life.
truth too, must be freed before it sets you free.
what truth(s) are holding you captive, perhaps unconsciously?
what are you afraid to admit. to hold. to let go?
i've been quiet for the last decade witnessing my life. however, at some point I lost the practice and ritual of naming my existence.
at some point I was afraid to tell the truth, or it was too overwhelming to relive.
shame does that. that little schmuck...
and I am tired of swimming in the sludge of shame.
but, it is a hell on Earth that I must pass through. for it is the fire I built long ago, so that today, I may draw closer to its hearth—to its truth burning inside.

"Begin when all the rest who left behind them headlong death in battle or at sea earlier had long ago returned, while he alone still hungered for home and wife."
-Homer, The Odyssey // Book One: A Goddess Intervenes
Homer had me at this line.
I've never read The Odyssey, but last week as I was moving and packing my books my heart whispered, "it's time to read this..."

The restlessness in the human heart will never be finally stilled by any person, project, or place. The longing is eternal. This is what constantly qualifies and enlarges our circles of belonging. There is a constant and vital tension between longing and belonging. Without the shelter of belonging, our longings would lack direction, focus, and context; they would be aimless and haunted, constantly tugging the heart in a myriad of opposing directions. Without belonging, our longing would be demented. As memory gathers and anchors time, so does belonging shelter longing. Belonging without longing would be empty and dead, a cold frame around emptiness. One often notices this in relationships where the longing has died; they have become arrangements, and there is no longer any shared or vital presence. When longing dies, creativity ceases. The arduous task of being a human is to balance longing and belonging so that they work with and against each other to ensure that all the potential and gifts that sleep in the clay of the heart may be awakened and realized in this one life.

Continually trying to look on the bright side interferes with our finding the wisdom that lies in the fruitful darkness. Continually striving upward toward the light means we never grow downward into our own feet, never become firmly rooted on the earth, never explore the darkness within and around us, a darkness without whose existence the light would have no meaning.
The Fasting Path
Stephen Harrod Buhner
The dissolving, uniting forces combine what to us have been incompatible: attraction with repulsion, darkness with light, the erotic with the destructive. If we can allow these opposites to meet they move our inner resonance to a higher vibratory plane, expanding consciousness into new realms…The sacred marriage or coniunctio, the impulse to unite seeming opposites, does indeed seem to lie at the heart of the subtle body’s imaginal world. One important characteristic of the coniunctio is its paradoxical dual action. The creative process of each sacred marriage, or conjoining of opposites, involves not only the unitive moment of joining together in a new creation or third, but also, as I have mentioned, a separating or darkening moment. The idea that “darkness comes before dawn” captures this essential aspect of creativity…In alchemical language, when darkness falls, it is said to be the beginning of the inner work or the opus of transformation. The old king (ego) must die before the new reign dawns. The early alchemists called the dark, destructive side of these psychic unions the blackness or the nigredo. Chaos, uncertainty, disillusionment, depression, despair, or madness prevails during these liminal times of making death. The experiences surrounding these inner experiences of darkness and dying (the most difficult aspects were called mortificatio) may constitute our culture’s ruling taboo. This taboo interferes with our moving naturally to stage two in the individuating process, a process that requires that we pass through a descent into the underworld of the Dark Feminine realities of birthing an erotic intensity that leads to dying. Entranced by our happily-ever-after prejudiced culture, we often do not see that in any relationship, project or creative endeavor or idea some form of death follows naturally after periods of intense involvement. When dark experiences befall, we tend to turn away, to move as quickly as possible to something positive or at least distracting, away from the negative affects of grieving, rage, terror, rotting and loss we associate with darkness and dying.
