The Whole Circus

Ok, but has anyone ever pointed out the fact that, in the "harem panel"(that's how I call it, at least), there's a guy playing an instrument in the background and that the room is filled with different scents and that there's a basket of fruits at the front and that Mephisto's eyes are taking in the sight (let's put it that way) and that he's being touched from different angles and so what the reader's being told is that it's about *sensations*? Samael is talking about that. He's talking about the things one (usually/"commonly") can experience through a body. A human body. One that can enjoy warmth and images and sounds and scents and tastes. And sure, it also tells us about Samael's high status from back then *already* and tells us about his probable "less attentive" and more "let's let loose" side that was most likely predominant in him at first, too, but it's not like Samael's opinion has ever strayed much from that *since*. And I'm talking about the way he enjoys food, both for the taste and the smell, and the way he enjoys art of all sorts, and the way his bed is *full* of fluffy pillows and warm blankets and plushies and he's got a rubik cube on his desk and he's got plenty of keychains attached to his phone–point of saying this being that he likes to touch stuff. He likes to *feel*. Feel the textures and the temperature and *everything* about things. Everything about *everything*. He enjoys and loves and *wants* to feel and that is the *most* human of things that, paradoxically, humans themselves seem to discard and constantly take for granted and fail to appreciate to the fullest. The experience of *being*. Of being alive and *feeling*. But to humans, it's obvious. It's an everyday thing. Why would anyone be enthusiastic about such things? It's not a granted thing to the Baals, tho. Sentient *living* creatures that can only experience all of that *through* a human body. Or any body, truly, but a human one gets most of the privileges and advantages that are available for them in Assiah, and so that's the most convenient choice. And besides, it's them who's all about art and expressing one's self and all of the things that Samael loves. And that comes with all of the weaknesses and downsides a body offers, too(Lucifer would like to have a say in this, me thinks). But truthfully, for as much as one can go about it saying "Ahah, lol, omg, he used to have a harem" or "Oh, damn, talk about *pleasure*, pervert", I think it's *not* discussed enough, you know? The fact that it's really more about what one can *feel* and *experience* and *enjoy* through senses. And I think *that* is why it's there. Not just to tell you about Mephisto's past and about his character a bit (tho of course there's that, too). It's there because Samael is talking about what it is that attracts demons–Baals especially–to Assiah and to humans and to *human experiences* above all. And it's nothing overly complicated or grander than what we could possibly comprehend. It's literally just about being alive. It's literally just about living, downsides of it included.
